There's no need for the Coast Guard to be involved and I'm guessing they have no desire to be involved. This isn't law enforcement; these are military strikes with no questions asked and faith that they're who the military is told they are and that they qualify as some flavor of combatant.I've heard it and they don't give any specific examples. Really all they're doing is reminding the military of what we're repeatedly told and trained about throughout our careers. It's comes from the UCMJ which says we're to follow all lawful orders and are to disobey all unlawful orders. It's not always clear what is unlawful, which is why there is much debate about the drug boat actions. The administration has found lawyers to make the case that they're legal which is providing cover for those doing this. We have had some early retirements/resignations of officers, including a four star, who feel it isn't lawful. That the oath that our military takes is to The Constitution, and not the POTUS? I think its VERY important, with what the last Presidency devolved in to, and what this current one is devolving in to, that people are reminded that our military is beholden to The Constitution, and the laws of the land, and not to any single person. And while I don't think its probably necessary for most honorable military personnel, its not the worst thing in the world for the military themselves to be reminded that they'll be supported if they choose to not carry out orders that are unlawful.
I think we're now in the middle of an epic meltdown. And I honestly think our military personnel will actually have to make decisions on whether or not to carry out unlawful executive orders, if they haven't already had to.
I'm not a huge fan of some of those specific congress people, but I'm glad they said what they did.
They're advocating for literally the opposite of 'sedition'... you stupid MFer.
I'm out of the loop. What orders are being deemed illegal in the video?
Is the Coast Guard working with the military on this? Would that change the supposed legality? I assume senior military officials have intelligence that documents the illegal operations associated with their targets, or is that part of the issue?
@aloha-hoosier I think it’s funny that the last president had his condition concealed and today we’re burying a devil who cost us trillions and the lives of thousands.
but Trump. Wake me when something real is going on not politics
It's just more noise for the left to get their panties in a wad. It's Clickbait. The economy is strong and border closed so they shift focus to somewhere else. Wake me up when inflation is 10% and millions are crossing the border.

Out of curiosity I googled "boat strikes unlawful orders" and got this AI response which confirms much of what I've been hearing:
The administration has argued that the strikes are lawful, based on several key points:
- The Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) issued a confidential memo providing a legal justification for the actions and a "golden shield" of immunity for service members acting in reliance on it.
- The administration has declared the U.S. is in a "non-international armed conflict" with drug cartels, whom it has designated as "unlawful combatants" and "foreign terrorist organizations" (FTOs).
- It characterizes the drug trafficking as an "armed attack against the United States," justifying the use of force as self-defense.
- The administration claims all actions are in compliance with the laws of armed conflict.
A range of legal experts, military lawyers, lawmakers, and international bodies have argued the strikes could be illegal and potentially amount to war crimes or extrajudicial killings. Their concerns include:
- Lack of Due Process: Critics question targeting individuals without a judicial process, effectively making the U.S. military "judge, jury, and executioner".
- Civilian Status: There are concerns that the victims are not necessarily "unlawful combatants" but civilians engaged in a criminal act (drug smuggling), who do not pose an imminent threat of violence that would justify lethal force under the laws of war.
- Constitutional Concerns: Lawmakers argue that only Congress has the power to declare war, and the executive branch has overstepped its authority by unilaterally declaring an armed conflict with cartels.
- Violation of International Law: The UN human rights chief and former ICC prosecutors have condemned the strikes as violating international law and potentially constituting "crimes against humanity" if systematic and targeting civilians.
- Internal Disagreement: The senior Judge Advocate General (JAG) at U.S. Southern Command reportedly raised concerns that the strikes could amount to extrajudicial killings, but was overruled by higher administration officials.
@mcm666 I haven't met anyone from this group of Democrats... but nearly all former military people I have met, would be very unlikely to put a video out like that, for the sole purpose of playing partisan politics. They're all in the thick of Washington now though, so to think it doesn't have any politics behind it, would be pretty naiive... but military people are wired differently. They're responding to actual concerns from current military officials. I say that with virtual certainty... before getting confirmation from Aloha.
Third hand info... coworkers' family member is military, pondering early retirement... there is more than a little angst right now at leadership levels in the military, with many orders that are coming in. And if all ya'll don't think Trump's response is a shot over the bow at more than the Democrats that did that video... well I got nothing for you.

Average nationwide for regular is $3.10 and it's not as low as $2.50 in any state though I wish it was. I paid $3.50 yesterday at Sam's Club for midgrade (91).
@mcm666 I kinda don't either... I just periodically get triggered by certain things. Admittedly, that's often by Trump. But opposite side things get me going too.
Miami isn't playing at your home city's team? Is that what you're saying? Indiana high school basketball is about to start. That, combined with IU bball and football going strong... This stuff doesn't take up a ton of space in my head.

Move to central Indiana. It's been 2.49 for a couple of weeks now. Got some today.
That would be nice. AAA says it's $2.96 average for regular in Indiana. You've found a good deal. I'm kind of digging AZ. Just found a small winter place in Tucson we're going to buy. Unfortunately, can't occupy that until the spring so we'll have to do winter in Northern AZ. There's already 32 inches of snow about 2,000 more feet up from us where the skiing area is. We only had a few inches here at 7,000 feet and it's mostly melted already. I hate snow. We'll be snow birding next winter. The weather will be great all year round with the two locations.all the things 🤣🤣🤣 It is insane gas was $5.50 and it’s now 2.50

You also said on the old board that gas would be below $2 at this point. So you're not the best to follow when it comes to gas prices.
@iunorth yeah it's ridiculous. i get that the league caters to messi. shit i would too. but damn midwest cities get passed over and now it was our turn to have him come here and of course they're not. i have connections and wanted to get a pic real bad of him with my minion. but no. because the fck would anyone want to come here.

Drive to Hamilton County. When you get here I'll show you where it's at. I can't remember the exact number but I took under around 2.6-8 range. If I remember you said it wouldn't get below 3? I wish we had the post.
