Should Israel just annex the West Bank and Gaza?
The problem with annexation is that it will lead to one of three possible outcomes:
1. The end of the Jewish majority of Israel
2. Permanent apartheid-style segregation of two populations within one state
3. Ethnic cleansing of Palestinian areas to protect the Jewish majority
The first option is anathema to Israel, and the other two options are anathema to the world. There is no winning play here.
