I feel like too many people are far too keen on coming up with reasons why certain people shouldn't receive healthcare. I think society has progressed to the point that this mindset is not only backwards, but perverse.

You don’t have a right to someone else’s labor. Democrats are far too keen on positive rights.

What if we look at this through another lens?

Conservatives used to champion the notion that individuals owed a duty to the community, nation, and family in order for society to function. Conservatives also used to put forth the notion of innate hierarchies and that the strong had a duty to protect and care for the weak.

What happened to that?

We spend more money on the poor than any other civilization ever.

We do, and too many of our poor are manufactured by the entitlements and lack of accountability for oneself.

At least he's acknowledging he's on board for project 2025, which he denied before.

No, he didn't acknowledge any such thing.

Uhhhh, Trump is literally flexing here about meeting with this bozo to determine how best to gain more control.

"on board" with P2025 is putting it mildly.

The ACA caused a drastic increase in premiums. Why do you think that happened?

I pay $7500 per year in premiums. With a $2500 deductible. Before the ACA…I paid no premium and had a $500 deductible.

We can play this game all day long.

Prior to the ACA I paid $1200/mo. out of pocket for me & my wife on my employer's shitty group plan. When he stopped offering group insurance and I went to the ACA, my o-o-p dropped to $600/mo. with better coverage.

And you don’t even say thank you for your subsidy.

@unclemark you have to be the exception.  I have not heard a single person until you say it has gotten cheaper.  Now I don’t know that it is or isn’t bc of aca but when you peruse plans Spartans is spot on as to deductibles and premiums.  Both went through the roof

My last military assignment I was Deputy Director at a Defense institute. 90+ percent civilians. I’d have had the ass of any furloughed employee who set up a partisan political out of office reply. It’s a violation of the Hatch Act, and federal employees also are to be apolitical in the job. They don’t work for Democrats or Republicans they work for all Americans. Now leadership is directing and implementing partisan political messages in their furloughed employees’  OOA replies. What was once shocking or outrageous is just another walk in the park.

That would be bad if it was true.

And this is the fatal fiscal flaw. We should be subsidizing care, not the purchase of insurance.  Think of a car repair. If you wanna help a consumer afford car repairs, you subsidies repair, not the cost of a warranty for repair.

Well, subsidizing care would logically be a national system to negotiate reduced care prices. National health care. Medicare for all being one. Dems tried and tried and tried to get something like that passed, and failed and failed and failed, always due to GOP opposition. So we were left with either doing nothing or with subsidizing insurance (ACA, aka Obamacare)
