What if we look at this through another lens?I feel like too many people are far too keen on coming up with reasons why certain people shouldn't receive healthcare. I think society has progressed to the point that this mindset is not only backwards, but perverse.
You don’t have a right to someone else’s labor. Democrats are far too keen on positive rights.
Conservatives used to champion the notion that individuals owed a duty to the community, nation, and family in order for society to function. Conservatives also used to put forth the notion of innate hierarchies and that the strong had a duty to protect and care for the weak.
What happened to that?

There’s the concept of the deserving poor
Doesn't seem like it.
and the undeserving poor.
Now we're talking.
The single mother working two jobs might qualify as long as she is a widow and goes to church on Sunday's. If not, then she shouldn't have gotten knocked up by that worthless loser and should give the kids up for adoption.
It’s about who should foot the bill. The Feds or the state? This fight in Congress right now is about that. Who pays the bill if an illegal alien goes to the hospital? Usually the state. In what states are most of the sanctuary cities? The Democrats are trying to protect these states by having federal involvement
@snarlcakes 20,000. there are currently 20 million people living in the us with cancer. now admittedly not all on their death bed but i certainly don't believe it a stretch to think 0.1% a year could die as a result of lack of coverage/inadequate care attendant to same. and that's just cancer.
btw took my minion to the farmer's market over the weekend. they had a bitcoin atm!!!!!!!!!!
Soulards?
@spartans9312 ha! No. It’s a shitty little one a mile away. And I wrote it like I took him there as a destination. I actually wanted to pop in crate and barrel and it was going on next to it. But I am going to take him down there one of these days. I haven’t been in probably twenty years.

You guys keep harping about the illegal aliens taking us all for a ride, when the truth is they represent a tiny fraction of the people who might be getting their health care paid for through government programs. The vast majority who will be impacted are the 20M+ working poor who rely on the ACA to provide them with subsidized health care coverage. If the premiums go up by the amount expected -- due to the cuts made in the BBB -- it's highly likely those people will be unable to afford coverage and be back to relying on the emergency rooms or foregoing care altogether.
@mcm666 you know how I know I am right and you're wrong? You're on the side of shooter😁 Farmers markets are a great time. The last 3 months of the year should be fun for Bitcoin.

Insurance companies will raise premiums to the point no one will pay for the service?

We spend more money on the poor than any other civilization ever.

The premiums are what they are. It's the subsidies that make them affordable under the ACA, and it's those subsidies that have been rescinded.

The ACA caused a drastic increase in premiums. Why do you think that happened?
I pay $7500 per year in premiums. With a $2500 deductible. Before the ACA…I paid no premium and had a $500 deductible.
We are attacking healthcare costs with the wrong mindset. The less insurance involvement in basic services the lower the cost of services. That’s how you save the middle class money.
We need insurance coverage for hospitalization, surgeries…etc.
@spartans9312 it exploded. Save pre existing which has been a massive boon imo the cost of coverage as you know skyrocketed after that
Given that 100% of people who have health insurance will die, (that’s a mathematical certainty) I’m curious about how one would design a study to give reliable results.
Read the studies I linked. Huge numbers of patients, huge number of both insured and uninsured, many cancer diagnoses, doctor's first evaluation of tumor stage, death certificates, time of survival. This isn't based on opinion or expectations. Just facts. Sure, some people with insurance are apathetic. Some without insurance are too. Uninsured less frequently access quality health care and more often delay until too late, or can't afford medication that would statistically increase lifespan, another consequence of being uninsured.
"You can't make someone listen to reason if they aren't willing to think"-- Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
The premiums are what they are. It’s the subsidies that make them affordable under the ACA, and it’s those subsidies that have been rescinded.
And this is the fatal fiscal flaw. We should be subsidizing care, not the purchase of insurance. Think of a car repair. If you wanna help a consumer afford car repairs, you subsidies repair, not the cost of a warranty for repair.
