Two questions:
1) I signed up for an annual subscription earlier today, but when I try to read an article it tells me I need a subscription. Maybe I need to be patient?
2) What does 'subscribe to topic/post' mean? Why would I want to do that?
Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I don't use any social media, unless this site counts.
1) Maybe log out and then log back in? Just spitballing.
2) No clue. Wondered that myself.
@unclemark Thanks.
I did log out after I subscribed, got a txt from my CC that the charge was received. Maybe HH needs to receive payment before I get enabled, or maybe nothing will happen on HH's end since it's a holiday.

You need to log into WordPress too. Try to like or comment on an article and a pop-up will step you in that direction.

Just guessing but I wonder if it means you'll get notified when someone posts on the topic you subscribed to.
There are 10 types of people in this world, those who know binary and those who don't.

OK, I did that, Wordpress sends me an email with a login link. The link takes me to Wordpress, not HH.
I have no idea what to do on the Wordpress site once I login, no mention of the article I'm trying to read, no mention of the HH site. Very frustrating.
Do I have to go through Wordpress every time I want to read a restricted article?
Maybe someone at HH could prepare a brief but specific tutorial on how to read subscriber only content?

Once you're logged into WordPress, just come back to HH and you should be fine. I think. I'm still navigating how to work all this, but that's how I did it.
I did sign on to Wordpress, then returned to HH. Was still locked out.
However, Wordpress also sent me an email with the article in the body of the email, plus a link back to the article on HH. So in order to read the article, I had to:
1) get a signon email from Wordpress
2) sign on to Wordpress
3) get another email from Wordpress with both the text of the article and a link back to the article on the HH website.
This seems unnecessarily cumbersome. I'm not a web developer, but the logic seems pretty straightforward to me:
IF [user is a paid subscriber]
THEN [grant access to article]
ELSE [display 'must subscribe' msg]
Why does this need to be complicated?
Not a big deal, enjoy the holiday.
This isn't how it's supposed to work, and it's not how it's working for most (that I've seen). Hang in there. Sammy will get to the bottom of it I'm sure.
@lxetvrts with your subscription $, it pushed HH owners over the top.
they are now your distant cousin from Sudan who is rich as Eff, just needing a little help.
If men were any more stupid, we would have breed for the extinction of women. Proof yet again that WE are the best thing they have going for them.
@unclemark I just noticed that you posted this, 38 minutes in the future.
it only helps clarify my clairvoyance, that everyone already knew would happen.

@unclemark it’s only a problem when I am on this site!
Doesn't matter. Do it anyway.
My WAG is that those ads are being served up by Wordpress, and may or may not be under Sammy's control. I've seen one other person have the same concern and gave him the same advice. Sammy is taking note of all these concerns. He's getting advice and assistance from web professionals. He's had three whole days in a live environment. At this point we're all beta testers. Let's roll with it until he gets a chance to go back at it hard next week.
Agreed. Everyone needs to roll with the punches while they iron out the details.@unclemark it’s only a problem when I am on this site!

@goat @unclemark you guys that are handy with computers and software can handle this. I am getting pop ups and my screen is freezing just trying to reply. No way people are waiting until next April to get rid of Wordpress.
I gave you a solution to your immediate issue. If you don't like it, there's nothing else I can do.
Some of you have mentioned the time stamp on posts being off. I haven't experienced that, but if you have...
There's a spot in your Account settings -- the little gear under your avatar -- to enter your time zone. That might help.
