I was just looking at the thread about who our next president needs to be, and the last response from John Henry includes the word "likeable", and it got me to thinking of fictional Presidents in movies.
The ones who instantly came to mind for me were:
Harrison Ford as President James Marshall in Air Force One (Gary Oldman as the bad guy was awesome, too)
Bill Pullman as President Thomas J. Whitmore in Independence Day
Morgan Freeman as President Tom Beck in Deep Impact
Of course, they are all Democrats... 😀
Who you got?
.
Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln. Best acting I've ever seen.
Edit: Sorry. Missed the word "fictional" initially. Lol.
Kevin Kline as President William Harrison Mitchell / Dave Kovic (Movie: Dave)
Kiefer Sutherland as President Tom Kirkman (Movie: Designated Survivor)
Davie Kovic was not the President, and Designated Survivor is a television series.Kevin Kline as President William Harrison Mitchell / Dave Kovic (Movie: Dave)

Splitting hairs. Kevin Kline played the president and then the person pretending to be president.
True, but still a fictional president so not sure why we wouldn't include tv series.
Anthony Hopkins in the movie "Nixon".
"You can't make someone listen to reason if they aren't willing to think"-- Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
I give up.
.
John Travolta as Jack Stanton in Primary Colors
Jack Nicholson as James Dale in Mars Attacks
Jeff Bridges as Jackson Evans in The Contender
Billy Bob Thornton in Love Actually
Idris Elba in a House of Dynamite
Peter Sellers as Merkin Muffley in Dr Strangelove
Michael Douglas as Andrew Shepherd in The American President
I am a big Sorkin fan so Michael Douglas in The American President.
Obviously Sheen in West Wing if it were a legal answer
