I was speaking with a colleague today. About 12 yrs ago, he was driving box trucks, for the USPS, between main hubs. It was routine, that he was given a load and told to drive around 465 and then bring the load back to the exact same spot. They had metrics for mail "moving" and this counted to meet the metrics. He would at times have the exact same load, 2-3 times over a 10-14 day period.
Go drive the loop, bring it back. That meet the requirements for their metrics.
If you can't beat the system, BE the system.

Dropped off scholarship app with the mail address as a PO Box at the building where said PO Box was located. Asked the dude to put it in the appropriate PO Box….he said it has to go to Louisville first.

Have a drinking buddy who worked there... He hated the place... His remedy was to somehow contract out the management (would probably take an act of Congress) of the place to Fed Ex and have them dump the chaff. According to him the biggest issue is 2nd and 3rd level nepotism along with just an old fashioned good ole boys hierarchy...

Bah...I've had a package sitting at the fecking USPS Indy Processing Hub "in transit to the next location" for nearly two weeks. Had to put in a request and wait now. I hope whatever asshole lost it gets the clap, and if they lifted it I hope they enjoy their new "assembly required" acrylic display cases they thought were something high dollar.

My friends thought was that nearly all the managers needed to be replaced. Right down to the line supervisors... According to him, most of the managers were incompetent yet remained in place because they were all nieces, nephews, and pals with the managers the next two levels above them...
No idea on the accuracy of that but I figure the contracted outside management concept seems solid... Just changing the Postmaster occasionally seem to solve much...
