Pharmaceutical ads are not meant to encourage consumers to buy pharmaceuticals.
Rather it is protection money.
By financing mainstream media, they insure the media coverage favors their industry and hides it's scandals.

This might be an outdated stat, but I remember hearing or reading somewhere that most major companies spend roughly 10% of their budget on national advertising. Drug companies buy a lot more ads than the average, but it's closer to .1% of their budgets.
Crazy how much money there is in pharmaceuticals.
@ohio-guy crazy how much dipshits with sports management degrees from directional schools make pushing pharmaceuticals.

My mom loved the drug reps. She usually got a female. Had them stop by at closing time, when she and her partner and staff would be having cocktails. Then she'd get all the samples she could and make the rep take her out for dinner. Unless it was something really new (not just a reformulation of old drugs) I don't think it impacted her prescribing practices much if at all. More than once she tried to play matchmaker with me or one of my brothers.
. Man, that's a mcm666 story right there. He may have to steal it.@ohio-guy crazy how much dipshits with sports management degrees from directional schools make pushing pharmaceuticals.

@bulk-vh yeah what @unclemark relates is fax. They intentionally hire attractive people. Same with med equipment. I would have loved to be a Dr. I’d have had my dirty nurses schedule multiple reps from competing companies every Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon.
lawyers don’t get any of that. Only nerds from the tom James company loitering around uninvited
