I see my PCP every 6 months or so. Basically an annual physical with a short check up in between. Well, I saw her for the in between short check up in May and she had a concern about a weak third heart beat (a ventricular trigeminy). I wasn't experiencing any adverse symptoms but she did an EKG in office and referred me to a cardiologist. Turns out the cardiologist couldn't see me until August which I thought was too far out but I made the appointment anyway. Then they called me in August to reschedule for 9/4. I wasn't happy but at this point I would've had a wait anywhere so I went with it because it would still occur before my annual physical on 9/15.

Well the cardiologist called today to reschedule again, this time for the middle of October. So now I was like WTF and started asking questions. Well, apparently an office of 4 cardiologists became an office of 2 as of last January (1 retired and the other moved to Indy and is only out at this location once a month). Unable to hide my incredulity at this point I told her I wished I had this information in May or August as I could've made other arrangements. I am still at a loss. I have a call in to my PCP at this point hoping to hear back from them.

A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"

My new neurologist is a headache specialist who instructs the nurses to reserve X blocks of appointments for headaches, and if they don't get filled, then they don't get filled. For us without headaches, it means we wait longer to get in. But I'm pretty sure that's specific to my situation, and probably not systemic.

@goat my wife had a Bloomington appointment to see someone for potential rheumatoid arthritis.  Initial wait was a year.  Six months later, appointment was cancelled as doc was leaving the practice.  She managed to get in to see someone in Indy five months after that, so she technically gained a month but had to travel.

@muubell if you’re going through a primary it’s laughable.  If you go to the ER presenting with whatever and admitted you’ll be fast tracked for everything thereafter.
