The other problem here is that the guy picked the issues and defined them. Darrow famously said (paraphrasing) I'll win any argument and you can pick which side I'm on, as long as I can pick the issue we debate.
An honest showing here, for example, wouldn't be "Immigrants are overall good for America," it would be "The U.S. should have an open border policy" or "The U.S. should not seek to deport people who have violated our immigration laws."
