I thought we were out hustled in the first half. Fortunately the visitors cooled off with their shooting in the second half and Shay caught fire.

Several ways to attack us were shown.

Press and double teams seem to still be an issue. I’m not sure how successful big Z will be against athletes her size. I had hoped for a big leap from Faith and based on play time it looks like that has not happened. Edessa I think will try and buy minutes to spell Z for foul trouble or breathers but won’t likely come in and make a momentum change.
Very early, new team, good coaches; we should know more by Xmas.

I didn't get to see the whole game as I was driving out to PSU, but there is a lot of room for improvement. They had a big second half to pull it out. Gamer is coming

I am impressed by Z's footwork, Mac lite. Z is far more athletic. A couple of times they pulled the chair out from under her, she will adjust to that.

We can't afford for Beau and Caffey to both have bad offensive games. I think we will develop other scorers, but for now at least one of those two need to help carry the load.

Last year on this date we lost to Harvard whose press killed us. I commented on Facebook that we were very unathletic. UIC mostly pressed to steal time from the shot clock and not get turnovers. When they did really press, we had a few struggles. At least part of that was players not knowing each other. That is more fixable than lack of athleticism.

Caffey will play much better.

I heard we missed 9 of 14 layups. We seemed to be a bit soft once we got in there. Another thing I am sure they will work on. Show them tape of Tyra, she was great at finishing, or getting fouled, or both. Tonight we seemed to shy away from contact.

I don't think this is an elite 8 type of team. Mainly the height worries me and our shooting is streaky. Defense should improve as communication improves but there is room for growth. But they are a team that on a given night is capable of beating an elite 8 team, assuming they improve as they play together.

@arthur-dent I agree with there needs to be more scoring options for IUWBB. It seems like they have a little identity crisis. They are not as good at shooting the three ball as years past. Z is great down low and she'll just better. Shay caught fire too.
