Heading to 0-2 in Big Ten play after a lackluster performance at home against Minnesota. The lack of recruiting in the past few years has caught up to the program.
I’m playing the long game. Tonight, we started 2 true freshman & a redshirt sophomore. Our best (and possibly only big) is out with an injury. We have a top 10 recruiting class coming in.
I have limited expectations for the next 2 years. Looking for player growth , development & retention.
Tonight was ugly. Like ugly, ugly. 21 turnovers. Gophers too 30+ more shots than IU. Maybe this is more a rebuild than reload right now
We certainly haven't improved. We looked good against Iowa, until the second half. Watching a women's game is like watching a men's game. Too many fouls, too many turnovers, little inside presence, and if one specific player doesn't score 30 we can't get to 60.
I really think the mass exodus caught the staff by surprise. I think they had a list of players they wanted from the portal for depth. They then had to take the list to be the entire team.
I don't know what's happened to Beaumont. Her decision-making seems lackluster, and her shooting is streaky at best.
We have a young team, and a really good recruiting class. We will have to see if they stay committed.
The future is far brighter than it was a couple months ago. The team has rallied to complete the regular season with a 17-13 record. Will lose Shay Ciezki but all other key players are to return next year. With the incoming freshmen talent for 2026/27, Teri Moren may well have her best recruiting class. For the immediate horizon the program is trending upward.
