Sammy, do you watch the women enough to have a sense of whether Zania is engaged with the team and will likely be back next year?
Also, Zoe Jackson is now with the team but hasn't played.....does she warm up with the team? if so, does she appear to have anything going for her in terms of contributing next year?
@mushroomgod I don't, but I know who to ask. I'll see what I can find out. It sounds like she's out for the year.
We had a potentially big get at the game against Purdue, Sara Okeke is a 6'4 forward and considered the top uncommitted player left. She is from Spain but playing in the States this year. It was alumni weekend and Nicole Cardono Hillary was here for the game. Since she is from Spain I hope she was able to make some inroads. Below is taken from ESPN. That article also mentions IU recruit Addison Nyemchek:
Murmurs about Okeke's play began this summer after an MVP performance at the FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket (13.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 57% FG through the tournament, including 23 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals in the final), well before she arrived in the U.S. She's carried that momentum into this high school season, averaging 17 points, 7 rebounds and shooting nearly 70% from the field -- and has the recruiting world abuzz.
Okeke's physicality is unmatched in the 2026 class. At 6-4, her combination of length, agility and instinct can't be taught, and she's an imposing paint presence who finishes well with both hands and is a fantastic rim-runner. She has made unofficial visits toIndiana, Louisville and Miami, though UConn and Texas are still in the mix. She plans to take more visits after the high school season.
