of a BIG sweep of football, men’s basketball, women's basketball, and hockey. In the semi-final, Michigan pounded Denver with superior depth and neutralizing Denver’s usual aggression. Michigan out shot Denver 52-26 in a double overtime game. In one power play, DU did not take a shot. Yet Denver pulled it out with some amazing puck handling and a very hot goalie.

Denver v. Wisconsin for the championship. Would be Denver’s 11th.

I was just looking at the thread about who our next president needs to be, and the last response from John Henry includes the word "likeable", and it got me to thinking of fictional Presidents in movies.

The ones who instantly came to mind for me were:

Harrison Ford as President James Marshall in Air Force One (Gary Oldman as the bad guy was awesome, too)

Bill Pullman as President Thomas J. Whitmore in Independence Day

Morgan Freeman as President Tom Beck in Deep Impact

Of course, they are all Democrats... 😀

The day men who faced each other through years of mud, blood, bullets delivered and received, forced marches, hunger and more met at Appomattox courthouse with mutual respect and planted the seeds of reconciliation. Even though Grant thought the Confederate cause was among the most despicable ever, he respect those who fought for it and showed them mercy. Grant nurtured the seeds of reconciliation.

Fast forward to today. As we enjoy comforts unknown to those at Appomattox, we hate each other and throw constant epithets and insults virtually and sometime in the streets to anyone and everyone who disagree.

What happened to reconciliation? What happened to America?

With MLB using the automated system for appeals on balls and strikes, I thought I'd see what people thought. My take is it needs to be full-time. Umpires are being overruled and jeered for missing a 96mph slider by .01 of an inch. Not good. Judging exactly, to that degree of difinity, just isn't possible for the human eye. If it were, batters would have higher batting averages.

So make all ball/strike calls by ABS.
