Played 40 minutes, guarding All American Smith all night, and hits the most important shot of the game.
This was an epic performance by Connor. Fun to watch.
This was said in the game by Hummel, so assume it to be true. 44% of Enright's possessions end in assists, leading the league and 2nd nationally.

Honestly I was shocked he wasn't in foul trouble early in the game because of that happening in the past. Granted a lot of help from others guarding Smith but 40 minutes of non stop guarding, breaking through screens and still able to hit the key shot of the game and both of his FTs at the end. A fantastic performance.
Punches above his weight cause he always puts forth the effort. Always thought this, if you pressure Smith consistently he isn't effective.

I feel like the team as a whole gives good effort but he's got by far the most fight. Tucker has some of it but doesn't have Enright's 'take no prisoners' approach. Alexis & Bailey are both good guys but neither will never be accused of being a bully. Wilkerson's cool in the clutch but doesn't live or die with the game as CE does.

Not only that but send a second defender to hedge on ball screens. Doesn't matter if its a blitz, show and recover, or switching a mobile big on him. It gets the ball out of his hands.
Painter counters with running him off of off ball screens to get the ball back, or short rolls with TKR but it slows their offense down considerably.
DeVries game plan was perfect, soft hedge, switched when Enright was too far behind or picked off.
The worst thing a coach can do is play drop coverage and let him get into that space off his right hand where he can destroy a defense.

I thought TD played his best all around game of the year. He rebounded and played good D against TKR.
Was really great to see all of the players interacting with the fans after the game too. None of those guys have been involved with the rivalry and they still seemed to understand how big of a deal it was.

Yes saw pretty early on what was unfolding. Should have mentioned it also and given salutes to Coach Devries for the optional addition to D. Just was enthralled with the way Conner not only hustled but multiplied positive results as the game progressed. A great floor game.
I was happy with the officials. I was sure they would have Conor in foul trouble by the first tv timeout. DeVries had the perfect plan defending their screening and not letting Smith run wild in the 15' range. Bailey shocked me and that was good to see. I think the Purdue game proved, teams that start 6'8 - 6'10 and 6'11 across the frontline, similar to what UCLA does, will have to go small to cover IU defensively. Just like Purdue tried.
Conerway HAS to get back ASAP. IU will not be able to stay out of foul trouble every game.
Very good to see Enright shoot the open three. He's a decent shooter. Not great or elite but good enough to take them if they dare to leave him open. What's hilarious is he had defensive pressure right on top of him when he hit that big one against Purdue, but he took it anyway and bagged it. Almost as if he saw the offense falling apart and just decided it had to be him.
He still makes me mad when he's inside about 10 feet out spinning around looking for a way to throw the pass back out yet the defender sagged off him to close a passing lane. I'm often thinking 'spin back toward the basket, there is nobody there! Take the ####### easy bank shot!' ... Man he passes up a ton of YMCA level shots.
