….with Trent Sisley? He was supposed to be good and when Woodson was fired, he was asked about his commitment, his response was “I’m coming to IU no matter the coach”. Love to see that statement but after playing the last seconds of a blow out loss to your rival like your a walk-on, makes me wonder if he has already told the he’s transferring at seasons end. Hate to see an Indiana kid get treated like that especially after a lot of people were high on him and a couple others (Mullins was one) were considered “must gets” by many on this board.
Any thoughts?

Over the last ten games Sisley has played a total of only 69 minutes which includes 19 minutes against Michigan and 15 in the UCLA overtime victory. In the minimal minutes played he's taken a total of 18 shots and made 2. From the 3 range he's 1 out of 8. He has 10 rebounds and 3 assists. I'm looking at his situation in two different ways. Personally, I'm very disappointed Trent hasn't progressed as the year has gone on. He was a very valuable bench contributor during the first half of the season. As an Indiana kid who I have seen play and listened to in interviews a number of times, I like Trent and want him to do well. I sure hope he does not leave the program after year one. The flip side I don't know is what has been going on behind the scenes with Trent, DeVries and the coaching staff and what happens off court.

If DD loses a kid like this , who bleeds Cream and Crimson that's a major red flag to me

Agree with the comment on not progressing. Even in the NIL era, coaches with major success will still come from how well they develop their players coming out of high school.

Sisley has a shot put look to his shot. Off his palm not his fingers. Not sure what I'm seeing. Maybe the staff is working on it? If so, it's really tough to try to play significant games at the same time as working on form changes. You can lose what you are working on. Probably not it, but spitballing, maybe.

Seems like he could help us inside, power forward style even though he's not that big or tall. He seems to be a gamer willing to pitch in however he can.

@hoosiers94 have to agree with this.  It'll amplify the concerns of him not bringing many players and staff along with him from stop to stop.

Why did we burn Ristic's redshirt if he doesn't play either?

Maybe the plan was to play him and Sisley, but Coach knows we are desperate for wins and is trying to just roll with a tighter lineup.

I have hopes Dorn will find the range again... Man he was hot for a couple games. But can't see how Sisley and even Ristic couldn't contribute far more than Dorn's recent games.

But I guess you can only have five out there. Maybe Coach should take a page from Hoosiers and roll with four.

@hoosiers94 Trent and the entire Sisley family have been big time Hoosier basketball supporters for a number of years.  If Trent would happen to leave the program, many, many questions and major concerns would come from an upset fanbase.

the middle of the season is not the time to change your shot mechanics.  That's an offseason project

@openwheel Did someone talk about him changing his shot?  He was shooting just fine earlier in the year, when he was getting significant minutes?  His form is fine.  Certainly not bad enough to mess with it mid year.

Doubt it. Just a couple on us on here were discussing his mechanics very early in the year. I think his form on his hand placement (and follow through) seems, different... So, no, that's why I said spitballing. It was just something I thought they might work on. Just like a QB who gets all fouled up when a coach works on changing mechanics. But I haven't seen Sisley for over a couple minutes for so long, so I may remember wrong.

Trent hasn't shown that he deserves minutes since conference play started. I'd like to think people that have been big time supporters of IU basketball for a long time understand that you earn your time on the court.  His numbers have been putrid since the turn of the calendar.

Can't have it both ways. If we are going to build a winning progarm and get back to any semblance of our historical greatness, you can't play guys just because they love Indiana or are local kids. They have to fit the scheme of what the coach is trying to run and be the guys who give the team the best chance to win. I don't know enough about the finer points of that to say whether Sisley does or doesn't, but I'm also not the coach. Bottom line playing time is a coaching decision, beginning and end of story. There were people who wanted to see Leal get more time, for similar reasons.

@ams66

there were a lot of people who wanted Leal gone after 3 seasons, saying how he wasn’t gonna get any playing time, he should be recruited over, he should move on so it could free up a schollie. Think Sisley is a much better player and understand how a freshman starts off got, goes through a mid season slump and then comes in at the end but to put him in with the walk one…….just don’t remember a player falling that low

Maybe this is DeVries version of Coach Cig with McCulley. Fan base telling him how great one of our guys is going to be... Coach says 'I use my own council on that ..." 😆
