@gros-louis No, I'm in no way suggesting that TC was not sick...I'm saying it does happen that players get ill and can't go. TC was a go the morning of the game....gametime came and he was scratched.  It happens.

The Drama queen reporters love this kind of stuff.

Peterson will gladly take the ball and shots to win games in crunch time. Sounds pretty competitive to me.   I would not worry about illness but the recurring hamstring/cramp issues will need looked into by NBA medical staffs.  Self put the decision on Peterson and sometime 18/19 year olds may struggle with decisions.    Why Self didn't ask him to start and go a few minutes to see how it goes makes little sense. 75% of him is still their best player and they have some good ones.  Instead he throws out go all in or not at all.

I'm looking forward to TPI now, to see what those guys have to say about this.

@hooky There are some "reports" going around of someone on the sidelines before the game hearing him and Self going back and forth about it.  The gist being Self was annoyed, and told him if he wasn't all in, to just not play... and Peterson said something to the effect of "F -it then, I'm out".  And self said OK.

Nowadays, I take those things with a grain of salt... so much AI generated, fake stuff... but if it is true, I'm sure it will make its way to NBA GM's.  I wouldn't touch this guy with a 10 foot pole if I were picking top 10 or so...if all this stuff is true.  Too many other really, really good players, to potentially waste a pick on a guy that could be a diva from day 1.

This Barstool tweet where someone was zoomed in on the phone of someone behind what I assume is the courtside press table who was texting someone about the interaction looks legit.

A quick peruse of some of the replies to various tweets and he's sat for Duke and UConn too.

If I was his teammate, I'd be pissed.

@redandrowdy I have no idea what you're getting at. My guess is you're saying DP is way better than TC and same with AZ vs. Oregon and therefore DP should have pushed through.  However, I would tell you on any given night TC is our 2nd or 3rd best player and is leaned on heavily by this team.  And it was the Wiscy game, not Oregon that TC missed and a loss would've knocked us off the bubble...so pretty damn important game.

Again, not knocking TC at all, just saying that it does happen.

Maybe he had intestinal issues and didn't want to wear home whites in case of an accident.

This kid is a player but a mile and a half from being a teammate.  TC is a teammate.  I don't know the construction of the weeds administering NIL but pulling it would pull a knot in his tail.  Somewhere these primadonas got to hit a wall.

@mtbrider You knew exactly what I was getting at. TC has had some good games here and there but he has also flat disappeared in others, so on any given night, he is our 10th best player. It has been brought up on here that our offense doesn't move nearly as well with TC running the helm as it does with Enright, and I can see that point. Kansas is a final 4 team with DP. Probably not w/o him. Yes, Kansas did beat Arizona w/o DP, at home, in Prime Time. I seriously doubt they can beat 3 or 4 high caliber teams in a row, at neutral sites, w/o DP. Apples to Oranges comparison between TC/IU and DP/Kansas.

@redandrowdy If I'm an NBA GM, I'm going to turn over ever stone to try to figure out what guys actually love playing the game, and love competing, all the time.  Not just when its beneficial to them.  Maybe DP is that guy?  Maybe not.  If he isn't, there are guys that are nearly as talented that are, like Dybantsa, Boozer maybe, etc...  I'm sure DP will be a terror in the NCAA tournament though, and the team is more dangerous to make a run with him, for sure.

@iunorth

Isn't that what GMs and team coaches, scouts, doctors do in draft evaluations?  Obviously, there are good and bad GMs.    I think at some point you have to take the talent. You have kids who drop every year based on some issue found in the draft evaluations.   For Peterson or Boozer or Dybantsa, the floor is 3rd, IMO. I don't think there will be many critics if one is taken over the other.  I think it is tough for a kid his age whose primary goal is to get to the NBA to make play or not play decisions. He probably preferred to skip college and can play in the NBA right away is my guess.  IMO, Self probably put him in a bad position over the illness decision thing.

Did it to his team again last night.  Checked himself out of the game, playing 18 minutes in a win.

Hard to feel sorry for Self, but I do feel bad for his teammates who have to deal with this.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I've ever seen anything like this. Obviously idk what the kid is going thru physically, but his leg cramps seem to come and go. He didn't have the flu, either, he and Self got into it the day before at practice over effort (I'm not providing a link).

Kid probably got most of his bling up front and thinks he doesnt need to listen to his coach because he will just go get his next bag.

I hope Self kicks him off the team for cause. Knight wouldve.
