@cavanagh I'm not worried about this team and shooting. We have 2 elite level shooters, and likely some more that are going to be good. Sisley's stroke looks confident and great. I think Dorn will be good too. Heck, I think Bailey can shoot it well. I'm more concerned about what I thought was the lack of good movement in the second half. I think that was as bad a night of shooting as this team will see, but can't let it affect effort and the offense. There was a lot more of Connerway dribbling than we need to see.
With Incarnate FVCKING word.... I had hope. now its prayer.
Geez, drama queen calm down. They played poorly and sluggish. It happens, you are a worse whiner than my 5th grade daughter. IU wasn't hitting the 3's, ICU hit some shots with men on them, there are gonna be games where IU doesn't blow everyone out. Big Ten is coming they are going to lose games. This group does play with heart, the coach is invested and they will continue to grow and gel. I hope we don't have to put up with your negativity all season long. Chill Nancy.

Oh be assured, he will be like that all season.
The second half showing is concerning though. The well coached teams in the big ten will defend IU by leaving Conerway, Enright, Bailey, and the FL kid open and covering up our scorers.
They will also take advantage of Bailey and DeVries lack of athleticism and put them in spots they will struggle to defend.
Dorn looked extremely rusty. Hopefully he improves into a useful piece.
@whatthefrik When and if we're running the offense that we ran the first 3 games, teams can't just "not guard" some of our other players. Too much screening and movement, to be able to game plan and effectively do that. But when we largely stand, and watch Conerway dribble the ball?...Yeah... Wilkerson and DeVries get quite a lot easier to guard, and laying off others becomes quite a lot easier as well.
WAAAYYYYY too much one on one, iso stuff, after just an initial pass or two, in that second half. As mad as I've seen CDD get, at times, about missing cutters and about poor defensive effort... it seemed strange, to me, that he was as relaxed about it all this game as he was in the other games.
Maybe somethings going on in the locker room? Sicknesses or something?
As I posted in another thread. Im
going to let this one go. Chalk it up to not being able to get all jacked up for "Incarnate Word". I'm not a fan of some of these cupcake games. Basketball or football. It can cause this lack of concentration to come to surface. But they are not going away especially in basketball too many games to schedule. But if we play another one like this coming up here then we start to fall into nothing better than what we had the last 8 years. Complacency. That is a disease. They will need to be steered out of it by DD. Can he do that? I think so, but only if he and Tucker can continue to keep guys bought in to the program. There will be some duds this year with this roster. Hopefully it's limited. I suspect we bounce back on Thursday

Unfortunately, these types of games happen, and I agree that it can't become a pattern. I'm more concerned about the B1G season and getting crushed by PU, UM and UofI. We're going to struggle mightily against teams with size. Gonna have to have the full complement of players back from injury and shoot lights out to win those.
Glad this one happened against an Incarnate Word and not against a top 40 opponent.

I put very little weight on how this game played out regarding the ceiling or floor of this IU team.
Do I love to see how many dunks and shots at the rim this offense creates and created in this game? YES
Do I dislike missing dunks? YES
Do I wonder why we created less easy buckets at the rim in the second half? YES
Do I give way more credit to IW for getting on a heater in the second half than IU for not disrupting their rhythm? YES
Do I believe a big football weekend can influence a basketball team to play somewhat lethargic in the second half and not be sharp shooting the ball against a team they fully expected to dominate? YES
Was I hoping to see more Dorn overall, Sisley more involved in the second half, and Wilkerson finding some game flow after those quick early fouls? YES
Do I like that Coach Devries will have the full attention of this team in this week's practices? YES
Just sayin
It's almost like you were WAITING to be able to post this after a crappy game. Touch some grass.

Oh agreed, disappointing for sure. They clearly played poorly compared to previous game. To make it seem like the end of the world or all hope is lost however is ridiculous and over reacting and immature. With Incarnate FVCKING word.... I had hope. now its prayer.

Y'all get up off me. So I was a little let down and disappointed in that showing. I'm still 100% behind this team.
If men were any more stupid, we would have breed for the extinction of women. Proof yet again that WE are the best thing they have going for them.
Let’s see what the game against Kansas State looks like…

Yeah will be a tough game. Especially with no students.

Purdue struggled with Oakland a team ranked below Incarnate Word. It happens.
