IU bball is a nice distraction from the inappropriate amount of energy amd money I'm spending on Cig's rampage of college football. Regardless, I keep going to the Hall for hoops.
Is Bailey the Carlyle portal bust of this team? Does he have baby hands? How much better would this team if that money was spent differently?
I'm at peace with mustache mullet and his role. And I think Alexis would be effective if he could play an appropriate position and role. Bailey is the hole.
See you all in Atlanta.
straight gospel.
We'll know what IU basketball is all about in the next month. Imo...
Ceiling: 8 seed in NCAAT
Floor: Bottom third of B1G (8-12ish)
All wins are good and IU beat a very bad Maryland team on the road. I liked Enright scoring 16. He needs to be taking shots when he's wide open. Tucker DeVries is struggling big time with his shot and needs to do better. IU needs to win at least 3 of its next 6 games. Rutgers is a must win given the other games are against the likes of Iowa, Nebraska, Michigan, Purdue and Michigan State.

Ive been saying the same thing : Where is Tucker ?
dave revisne said the same thing on the post game show.
@hoosiers94 I haven't watched last night's game yet, so can't really comment on him, or the rest. But I do know that in some of his other poor scoring performances, he did quite a lot of other things to impact the game. He's actually a pretty good defender, despite being slower of foot. And while the ball definitely dies in his hands, at times...other times he's instrumental in the ball movement that makes our team good. He also pulls plus defenders away from others... Penn State game was an example of this. He didn't take a ton of shots, but he was really good moving the ball around, and the attention he always gets was part of the reason why others, including Lamar, were getting open looks. Maybe last night he was just bad though? Certainly possible.
He's not athletic enough to win many one on one battles at the high major level. And he's working through having two other guys that are also very capable scorers. But he's a really good college basketball player. Certainly good enough to be one of the focal point guys, on a good, NCAA tournament level team. Best player and leader on a B10 championship team, Final Four... ehhh, probably not. But if CDD had just brought Amani Hansberry with him to IU... I think we'd have a much better glimpse in to that possibility. But there's no question he isn't a guy that's going to just go get 30 for himself, in the B10. I'll bet he does flirt with a 30 point game, or two, at some point again this year. But that'll happen within the confines of CDD's ball and player movement based offense... not him just going and getting his own shots. He's also shown himself to be a fairly streaky shooter, throughout his career. Hopefully he goes on a heater here soon. With our schedule, we're gonna need it!
@bigmike Maryland is 0-4 in the BT, 0-3 at home, have lost all four games badly. Last night they played without their best player in Payne, they will continue to struggle until he returns, Maryland talent level is near the bottom of the Big, slightly better than Penn St. and Rutgers. Rutgers being last has won a BT game, but I'll bet Maryland or Penn St. might not win one game.
you keep bringing up their performance at a mid major. Yep they were very good mid major player. About 1700 of those 2000 were at a mid major .. never took that away. Would a lot of high major coaches want him in their team. Yep. As a role player. Not the no 1 or 2. That point is mute. Their talent doesn't translate to a high level team with results. That's what makes me realize you don't know what you're talking about ...
You're ate up.. It's blatantly obvious that you're searching for negatives and that bias is present in every post you make. @iunorth is one of the most knowledgeable posters on this board even if he doesn't know the difference between a 1-2-1-1 zone press and a 1-2-2. (lol just kidding North). You, well, you just complain .. a lot.
Tucker hasn't performed well to date, but Wilkerson is one of the best players in the conference and Conerway is fine. If you can't see that your perpetual disgruntlement and shit colored glasses is fogging your vision.
@scam-likely Ahhh damn it! Not that again! Damn it Fran McCaffrey and your weird attempts at running a real diamond press! And damn it Mike Woodson for trying to have Race Thompson break the damn thing, and allowing Fran's weird stuff to work!
Funny thing is I agree with Hoosiers94 on a lot of these things. He just takes it to unrealistically negative places... so my urge to keep things sane and rational has been taking over.
Tucker needs to find his shot, and play better...obviously. He's not trash, he's not-not capable of playing at this level...obviously.

I'm just tired of lipstick on pigs. This team isn't going anywhere imo.
I watch every game , attend 2-3 every year. And I cheer them on every game as well.
but what won't do is stream accolades and attaboys on them when I don't think collectively, not just as a whole but as an individual,if it isn't deserved ... especially now that this product is a paid outfit. If you want to dress it up and make it feel like something special. That's fine. I respect your opinion. You're entitled to that. Just as I'm entitled to mine without being scourged for it. We've all seen enough basketball to understand the dynamics of the game. I don't doubt that at all. IUNorth may know basketball that's great , but many of us do as well so more so it's the attitude that oozes .. you all can send those messages private if you think he's some sort of guru, no offense I don't see anything out of him I haven't heard from any other guy who's into basketball I've coached AAU, played, I'm good friends with Scott Bryce Drew And Homer who was my neighbor for several years. , been a close donator to VU, IU and ND for years .. had many conversations with Brey, McGraw, Crean, Etc over the years. I've known Dakich for 40 years ... yeah yeah yeah ... but he does have a pretty good working knowledge of basketball ..you all could go on on too I'm sure Point is his opinion or interpretation isn't gospel yet many of you act like he's Coach K or Wooden and I don't give a rats ass if you think what I have to say is worth anything But I don't come on here to be abused but to discuss , you just don't like what I have to say. I'd evaluate my own son's team with the same level of criticism if warranted.
question... how far do you think this team can go... hardline answer no hemming and hawing. We all get miracles never cease, absent that ... how far? What's our record come March 15. Be realistic

Yeah me too.. it's pretty obvious this team has some major flaws and lacks upper level talent but I'm very much triggered by perpetual malcontents. Doesn't matter if it's basketball or life in general. I detest constant consistent whining. It does nothing but make good things bad, and bad things worse. We got what we paid for .. if UK cost 20 million, what did Michigan, Louisville, BYU fork out? I don't put much blame on Devries for not matching that level of talent with half the bag.
Tucker and Bailey are the two biggest disappointments. Bailey at least has been contributing, though it's really hard to watch him at the rim missing so many shots and looking bad doing it. Tucker has just been bad and not doing much of anything. His shooting dropped off awhile back and he was at least putting up some assists. Lately, he's not adjusted to the extra attention the other team is applying on him and not contributing much at all. Maybe a confidence thing, maybe conditioning, into his own head? ...
I don't mind seeing a team with flaws, it shows more about the coach than a loaded team does. I really like what he's trying to do, hopefully he gets a talent boost next season.

then why don't they just call it what it is. It's a rebuilding year. We don't expect much out of this team we are rebuilding the program we hope to continually improve and give maximum effort each night with great attitude of which we can control. Yet we get this team is poised to compete. No it's not. It's a perfect opportunity to take that rout with it being his first year. I then might have more respect and patience. Publicize our NIL amount and acknowledge we can't match other programs.

do you think he's making enough adjustments in season and in game to warrant a passing grade as our coach ? If so give me an example

there has been a noticeable drop in off balance/30' 3 point jacks as of late
so there's that
