It's nice seeing Victor practicing with our guys as he prepares for his return to the NBA.

If there was one player former player I’d want practicing with our current guys and giving them advice, it would be Vic.
He gets IU and knows what it takes to win. He also of course made the league after being a 3* recruit ranked around #150.
@tammany Your final point is excellent, something this squad will be able to relate to and get motivation from.
@tammany Wish I could feel the same way about Vic as I used to, but he forever ****ed that up. I don’t hate him, but for me, at least, it’s never gonna be the same…

Are you referring to how he treated the Pacers? (My memory is dim on that, but I recall he kind of did them dirty.)
@unclemark Yup. Not gonna rehash it on here. People can read up on it if they care to.
@jj_mcclure It was disappointing, for sure. But I loved him so much prior to that, it was almost like one of my own kids making a mistake. I think maybe its magnified a little bit because IU has had relatively few alums that have played themselves to that upper echelon NBA level, like Vic was flirting with. And at that point, the business side can be very ugly.
To each their own. For me, once players leave IU, I hope they do well, but it's not something I am too interested in, even when they play for the NBA team I like. If folks don't like what he did with the Pacers I get it though.
He is a guy I like having around the IU program. I can't say that for some of our former players.

100000000%
And although I have my own passions that other people surely don't understand, I can't fathom anyone caring enough about an NBA franchise to make them think less of a human being, especially one they formerly loved.

Don't really follow the Pacers or know the Oladipo story there but at that level it is all business. If they had a disagreement on contract terms then that's just business. I would not hold that against him.
@ams66 if he’d handled his business in a professional way no one would have a problem. Going up to opposing players on the floor in front of your teammates and saying, “Hey, can I come play with ya’ll?”, is pretty much the antithesis of that.
@jj_mcclure He definitely went a little too far with his words and actions. But at the time, the Pacers weren't willing to "pay him" his fair market value. And I can obviously see how that would anger someone. Especially someone like Vic, who pours literally everything in to his game and his teams. I can see him feeling betrayed, and that causing him to act how he did. Not justified I wouldn't say. But also not hard to understand.
