@bigmike you and me both brother. Btown is home and has been most of my life. Need to get basketball going, I can’t stand mediocracy. It should not be tolerated and there is a coach out there that can get us over the humpppp. Sure as hell ain’t who we have now though. Sad.
count me in that group.
it's gut wrenching still after 26 years of mediocrity... football was great and I'm not saying I don't want it to succeed.. on the contrary. But basketball is my first love ... it needs to be saved
I only got to reside in Bloomington for those 4 memorable years of school ...
Indiana has had way too much time to figure this out. It's a tragic story of incompetence. Would make a great case for the management people at the Kelley Business School.@bigmike you and me both brother. Btown is home and has been most of my life. We just didn’t get talent this yr and asking guys who played at mid-majors to all take a major step up in level of play is asking too much. Outside of Alexis who played at Florida, who on this roster played against the talent, size, physicality and athleticism the big ten has night in and night out last yr? Nobody, that’s why this team looks tired, and has the look of lost confidence (Connerway).
This may be the 1st yr for this coach and staff, but it has been going on for over a decade for us fans and when you put this type of play on on the court plus the fact of who we have coming back, ya, interest starts to wain. Remember wondering what it would look like next year if Oladipo controlled his athleticism? Will Yogi get an outside shot? How many points will Alford have now that there is a 3-pt shot? Edward’s and Jones from Marion are coming to IU? Compared to…..will Dorn be consistent? Will Sisley get his confidence back? Will Ristic(sp) be anything? Will Josai Miles turn into Ricky Calloway? Hard to get behind all this
It’s like dating your new girlfriend but remembering all your old ones and their flaws and wondering if this one is gonna turn out the same
Does Kelly business school teach political and university management? (I dont know?)Indiana has had way too much time to figure this out. It's a tragic story of incompetence. If IU hoops was run like a business it wouldnt have decades of incompetence. Or, if it had, would have come alive a few years ago, in the NIL era.

exaclty. Fire the coach. Find the money. Run it like the business it is. Hire whomever for whatever and win. No contracts with enormous buyouts only performance based like Cig.
Being born in the state of Indiana and spending more years in Bloomington then I'd like to admit I am inflicted with a severe case of Hoosier Hysteria. It hurts to see IU mired in mediocrity. Looking at history, I do realize IU basketball has not been very good for many years.Any way you wanna slice and dice it finishing 10th in the Big Ten is a failure in year one. With the resources we spend and coaches salary finishing 10th is just unacceptable and scary for the future of his regime.
I think we will learn very quickly in April what kind of team we will have next year. without a major boost in NIL money I find it hard to believe that transfers will choose Indiana over similar offers and programs.
If we can somehow manage to beat Ohio State on the road and win a game or two in the Big Ten tournament to sneak in to the big dance, I will be at least moderately satisfied. My first love and true love will always be IU basketball. I can’t shake it. I tell you what though, CIGNATI makes things a whole lot easier to stomach.
Having said all, last spring my expectations for year one DeVries was a top 6 finish in the conference and winning one game in the NCAA tourney. I did have concerns that the roster was built with senior mid-major all stars. Looking back on the season, I'd say DeVries has equaled Woodson in the ability to construct a poor roster with another ho-hum 10th place conference finish. This coming April, he needs to re-tool the roster again.
Contrast the DeVries portal strategy to Dusty May. May will have Morez Johnson back for potentially 2 years and Cadieu and Andy Mara as seniors. Dusty has minimal portal work as he didn't simply load up the roster with seniors. Perhaps some Ryan Carr assistance will lead to better portal acquisitions. We can only hope!!!
"Minimal portal work?" Haven't UM's best players been portal guys both years?
IU is a football school with a basketball problem.
My point on May & Michigan is he needs to do "minimal portal work" this April. He does not have to go out and get a bunch of players from the portal because several of the key portal players he signed last year are underclassmen (Cadieu, Johnson, & Mara). DeVries instead went heavy on the seniors.Being born in the state of Indiana and spending more years in Bloomington then I'd like to admit I am inflicted with a severe case of Hoosier Hysteria. May has used the portal a ton the last 2 years and it's worked well for him , I guess he can judge talent pretty well. Hmmm
I am fine with the coach we have. I expect big things in the future.
Yeah, we were not good his first year. Disappointing. Still, some chance to redeem the year if we win a couple more and make the post season.
But I had zoned out the last year of Miller, and the last two years of Woodson. Had enough of poor basketball. So as disturbing as many games were this year, I enjoyed the season more. We are no better, yet, but we are better off. Some or many teams in the big ten are about the same or worse than us, and they also have had more continuity.
Not blowing smoke to feel the Hoosiers will be back. Some disagree, and to each their own. We will see.
Yes, these guys had better show some serious recruiting chops quickly this off-season!
,
Look at the team. The sport today is not what it used to be. This roster is a very veteran team and was built to win now and not in the future. Who are the seniors? Sam Alexis, Reed Bailey, Tayton Conerway, Tucker Devries, Conor Enright, and Lamar Wilkerson? We bring back what? Nick Dorn? Jasai Miles? Trent Sisley? Assuming none transfer. This years roster was built for maximizing this season and restarting next year.
Honest question, what do you think DeVries has in his favor going into next year that he didn't have last year to give you the feeling he will do something better?

Businesses fail all of the time.
We sucked. We had nothing. So, it has to be better next year...
Next year will be built to 'win now' also. I do not believe that works long term. Recruiting out of high school will still matter a lot.
At least we probably will have 3 or 4 recruits as freshman instead of two. (Sisley and counting Ristic.) Woodson did minimal recruiting. He left the cupboard bare. Although DeVries was unable to retain Bryson Tucker. Then DeVries did himself no favors with his woeful portal performance and not bringing recruits from WVU.
What DeVries has in his favor is the entire admin realizing last years portal and recruiting fiasco wasn't all on the coach. What he has in his favor is no excuses as far as time and resources. What he has in his favor is several freshman recruits that he got, not the prior staff. He has one or two extra returnees that know his systems.
Of course they do.Businesses fail all of the time.
That has nothing to do with this 'business' having everything lined up to succeed, but it was being run like a legacy University program. So they missed the wide open window of opportunity.
As I indicated, I don't know how somebody's suggestion of Kelly Business School could help... It's not business, it's a university political program or department. Not a business.
