@gthomas I guess Woodson did have some games where they looked Sweet 16 level, especially TJD/JHS year.  Archie... even the win at MSU, and some of the Romeo team wins... it never felt like some of the moments, stretches, games that this team has shown... to me anyways.

But for sure, consistently playing top end B10 and S16 level basketball... its been since the mid 90s.  It don't make no sense!

As we fans know all too well, there have been a bunch of meh coaches since Knight. And when IU did hire a high-caliber coach, he torpedoed the program.

They won't be a S16 team because they don't have enough resiliency... good one game shitty the next.  There's not enough time to run that shitty part out of them

We can't beat teams with inside presence but who can also defend the perimeter. We get smoked. If we had just one more Alexis... (Again why I think Sisley should play, he's not a big power forward but he's not a stiff, he makes plays forwards should make on the boards, defense, etc.)

Get a good matchup we can win a game though.

@hoosiers94 Oh they've put themselves in a position where no matter if they play consistently well, or not, they're very, very unlikely to make a S16 this year.  If they get an at large, they'll be a 10 or 11 seed.  Means they'll have to beat a very good team in the first round, then would likely have to beat either a 2 or 3 seed in 2nd round.  That brings in to play teams like Houston, Iowa State, Florida, etc...

Squeaking in as an 11 seed probably actually increases their chances, because the 2 seed line, this year, is loaded.  Drops off a bit to teams like Kansas, Nebraska, Purdue... teams of that caliber... that we could rise up and beat if we played well.  We aren't touching teams like Florida, no matter how good we play.

But if they had played all or most of the year, like they did last night, they'd have 13 or 14 B10 wins, would be looking at 3-5 seeds, etc... that's what I mean by them being a "S16 caliber team"... basically just being top 20 or so... and they played like that last night.  The inconsistency is baked in to the cake though, at this point, so I get your point.
