I completely agree. The standing around on the weak side ruins any hope for this team to have success. This offense and its success is predicated on constant movement all over the floor. And you're absolutely correct we have "zero" threats against good teams to execute ISO ball. Zero. Anyone can execute and offense against a hapless Penn St team
I know darn well they aren't going to fire him before the season is out. And if there is any semblance of a winning record he won't be fired at seasons end. But I honestly don't see it improving, even with a top 5 NIL I don't , his inability to get these kids focused enough to run this offense consistently against a team like Kentucky amazes me. I can understand a team shutting down on the execution portion of it but the lack of interest or intensity at times is to me coaching. Small things like how to make the cut at what angle and speed is also coaching. Making a lollygag cut waving your hand in the air at a snails pace doesn't fool anyone. It just jams up the lane and the burns time off the clock , at this level I would expect this to be nipped immediately. A time out called and some ass chewing on the sidelines to get their heads out of their asses. And yes coaches still do that not every kid is a pussy these days. I'm not talking RMK chair throwing or headbutting.
It appears we have the same concerns at the present time. I’m just not for constantly calling to have the coach fired. Thank you for the actual discussion of the game as opposed to what we regularly see on the board. Calling players trash and saying the coach should be fired after 6 games or whatever number the Minnesota game was isn’t constructive or productive.
and the Spartans call sign is confusing me.

Nickname of a team I coached 20+ years ago
you're right if you saw that first Knight team you're a little older than me. First one I remember is 76 team. But that was a different time, the world moved slower, people were more oatient, there wasn't pcs and smart phones either. Maybe we should go back to those times but I don't think that's happening. Back then there was. No NIL , players only could play 3 years no freshmen, there was no portal to rebuild a team in a day. Is what it is now and fans expect more because there is more at a teams disposal ..it's win now or go
You are older than I am if you remember much of the ‘76 team. I understand the game is different. If it’s win now or go then I probably shouldn’t follow the game. I still believe you can develop and keep players. Sisley has that chance with proper coaching. I’m in agreement that we played bad last night and should have won once we had a 7-9 point lead. The offense is supposed to punish teams that play 2 bigs…but we aren’t getting the ball in the correct spots at the right time. Once they were able to play Dioboute alongside another big we struggled to end defensive possessions. It’s up to coach to adjust
well I don't remember much I was 5. But I do remember some. I'd say probably the 80 team with Woodson and definitely the 81 team.
and I agree that Kentucky team was a prime set up for us to exploit based on the lineup. But our horses in our barn ... and foul trouble which will happen worked against us. But yes the coach had to adjust and he didn't. And Bailey was useless as I've been saying since day 1. How we paid him a million bucks is beyond me

I don't blame the players for anything other than their attitude or effort. Lack of effort and a poor attitude is on them, especially now when being paid The rest is on the coaching staff and recruiting coordinator and talent evaluators.
IU doesn’t like admitting a mistake so we are stuck with DeVries for at least four seasons. I’m sure Dusty will make a couple Final Fours and win a national title in that time span. Dolson had better hope IU football keeps winning.

If that's how they handle this one and we see the same we've seen over the last decade. That very well may push me over the edge and I will tap out of watching them. Won't pay attention to the games, roster etc anymore. Won't make it a point to know anything about the team. How they can continue to accept mediocre teams and effort and sell that shit to us dedicated fans is beyond me.
@hoosiers94 "A time out called and some ass chewing on the sidelines to get their heads out of their asses. And yes coaches still do that not every kid is a pussy these days. I'm not talking RMK chair throwing or headbutting."
Barkley made that point. (I liked the combo of him and Vitale on that game. I'd probably tire of it but it was fun as a one-time thing).
He said something along the lines of "If you're coming to play at an IU or a UK, you've got to be able to handle the expectations and the pressure. If you can't, play somewhere else."
A coach at IU has to demand excellence every minute a player is on the floor. Players need to be the type who thrive on it. There can be no compromise for feelings. I really doubt that you'd see any of that from Cignetti, for example.
I knew this team was going to be overmatched several times this season. I knew they would have to be greater than the sum of it's parts to be competitive. My expectations for this complete rebuild with a new coaching staff and a completely turned over roster weren't/aren't high, especially considering that this roster iteration has some glaring deficiencies. It's not an indictment of the players or the recruiting or the staff, it's just a fact that they will be outgunned against most P4 competition.
All that said, I do expect them to control the controllables. Rushed shots, sloppy passing, getting trapped in the corners and along the baseline, poor inbounds discipline. Effort is great, but it has to be controlled...patient. Otherwise it's just wasted. They did that in spots in the first half, but the second half was downright embarassing.
To paraphrase Todd Bowles, the difference between a scrappy team and a crappy team is "S"...hit being given.
