I dont see passing on these type of guys as anything principled. Pro or not pro was always a made up arbitrary status.
And lately the courts have basically said college players are pros. Because how is paying a college kid different? It isnt. Yeah, I know, no pay for play, but thats another made up arbitrary status as the NCAA tries for some relevancy. So be it. If they can gain admittance as a student, they are allowed.
Does it suck? Sure, to me it does. But Im not forced to watch or care. I care less than I used to. But I enjoy watching sports. And the badge name still has some association. I assume they do still take classes.
Sounds like Drew wasted his time…and probably pissed off some of his current players in the process. If what I saw from the NCAA Prez is real. He isn’t going to be given eligibility.
***edit…I misread the article. It’ll be interesting to see how impactful he ends up being for Baylor. It’ll also be interesting to see if all these older, high profile coaches that are clutching their pearls right now, stay away from guys like Nnaji going forward.
NCAA needs to name a bball and football commissioner, ASAP. And hire them from outside the NCAA.
