@iureactionary you better buckle up buddy. You haven’t heard anything yet. No agenda here. Straight calling like it is. You might learn a thing or ten
Im 100 with you Cavanagh. Calling things as they are is reality Can't stand sunshine pumpers and rose colored glasses
who is sunshine pumping? are you saying i am?
i wrote that iu did exactly what a high major team should do against a sub 300 team.
and considering that archie got blown out by isu and woodson squeaked by a terrible eastern michigan team by 6 in their first games, i'd prefer the former than the latter.
if that's sunshine pumping rather than pointing out objective reality then i guess i'm sunshine pumping.
@cavanagh Orrrr... they'll play well, be fun to watch, make the NCAA tournament...because of that, CDD will have a bit bigger of a starting budget, a bit more elasticity if he wants or needs it, he'll use that to keep the impactful guys on this years team that can return next year...AND go land 4-5 portal kids that are as good or better than many of this years were. And because he'll have shown what his IU program will be, and how fun the offense is, and all that... his program will be a bit more appealing, to a few more guys, than it was last year. Maybe you're right and he doesn't have a singular player as good as Tucker next year. But maybe that'll be because Tucker is one of the top 10 players in the nation this year? And maybe he'll be "better" at all the other 10 main roster spots?
Nothing I just typed is any more unlikely that what you've typed, so far.
@iureactionary I don’t see much Sunshine Pumping on this board. I do see some Doom Dumping.
@cavanagh "Expectations should be a deep run this year. "
That's ridiculous.
Possible, but come on...
You've spent the off-season saying nothing but that he washed out in the portal compared to how you thought he should've done. Now he's supposed to make a deep run anyway, because some imaginary coach might've done better even after the Woodson debacle?
He'll build us into a program. If not he'll be gone then, not before a chance to do it.
,
@iureactionary Nobody is sunshine pumping. People are being realistic with the expectations of a program that has failed for the last decade. CDD may or may not be the guy the restore this program, but we certainly don't know after 1 game against Alabama A&M.
@hoosiers94 except you're not "calling it like it is". We're what, 36-37 on FTs between this game and Baylor? Clearly have improved on shooting, playing a modern style, effort, defense, coaching, etc... And what is Cav harping on: a kid who was intended to be a backup not scoring... something he's never done. CDD even talked about when he went to recruit the kid that he controlled the game and I don't think scored a point. Let Dorn get healthy and Enwright return to the bench backing up Connerway, and it's a non-factor as he was never going to score anyway. He complained mightily about Bailey having a poor game vs Baylor; any acknowledgement the next game when he led us in scoring and had a couple nice assists? If only you were calling it like it is.

Tucker's a nice player. He's not one of the top 10 players in the country.
Kelsey in season one was an 8 seed and lost in the first round. Louisville should have fired him.

No I wasn't referring to u
@tammany I won’t complain with an 8 seed. That is no bubble. My expectations are minimum no bubble. We do that we got us something. We miss or pull a woody I’m gonna be calling for his head.
I mean we have been on the bubble for the last decade. I’m so sick of bracket matrix looking at garbage teams we might be able to squeak in as an 11 baby!! Over it.

sure I am.
1. we looked slow ... not quick enough to be elit e
2. enright is a small minute sub
3. Bailey isn't strong enough nor athletic enough to compete at a high level in big ten He will struggle.
4. we don't have enough height. Alexis is not a banger. He's athletic aand if he was all that he would still be at Florida. Did he not start out at Charlotte?
5. Wilkerson isn't Steph Curry. He won't have the spacing against big ten teams. He will struggle to get looks unless he launches fr the logo like he did . Which he won't make many from there
do we have a better more modern offense looks like it That's great But this team is no sure tournament team And im sorry that's not good enough don't care who's the coach and what year they are in
@cavanagh a program with the resources IU has, should be in the tournament almost every year and not squeaking in. I think making the tournament, and looking like we give a shit while doing so, would be meeting expectations. I'm hoping we can also get an upset or 2 precon and at least a couple in conference (UM, PU, Il, MSU) and finish at or above 500 in conference too. With a complete rebuild, that would be successful in my book. Basically what Lville did last year. Anything better would be great. Oh yeah, I also want to beat/sweep Iowa. Tired of everyone taking shots at CDD and praising BM. This is my team!
@hoosiers94 Bailey and Wilkerson did well at their past schools while being the primary scorer. What I think/hope CDD has done that will pay dividends is built a multi-skilled team that will create opportunities for everyone. What those guys didn't have at their past schools was Tucker Devries out there. Double Tucker and suddenly Wilkerson has that good look, or Connerway or Bailey has a driving lane. Bailey will struggle on D I imagine, but he's going to also make his defenders pay with his ball handling/driving. Alexsis was at Chattanooga before FL and I think was all conference... 12/8 type guy.
Really liked the point about free throws show the team is focused even in the big blowouts. Like the cutting and love that we have multiple 3 pt shooters. Hope to be mid big ten, stay healthy and play good defense. Marquette will be a great barometer as to what kind of team we have
