It looks like IU has taken all the good parts of Hoosier Hysteria and has made them separate events. I love that idea as it means more opportunities for people to make it.
Looks like the Athletic Department is going all out to pump up the basketball program. They must have a great deal of confidence in CDD. Should be exiting this fall
@gr8iufan Its amazing what happens when you have leaders that are energetic, and bought in themselves. I can't imagine being an SID, or just working for the AD, and trying to involve Woodson in these program pump up sessions.
My educated guess is DeVries is actively working with the athletic department to come up with, and plan, all these events. Winning basketball games is the most important task. But capturing the spirit and soul of our fanbase again... a close second. CDD "gets it".
@iunorth IU has a lot to repair within the fanbase as it has eroded over the last 5+ years. I love getting people involved, especially now that you are paying these guys.
I am going to try and get down for at least the scrimmage, but may take my son to haunted hall of hoops, but he's only 1 and it's pushing up against bed time.

I would agree with that. The fan base has eroded, and this hire “feels” different. Imho, it feels differently not because of who we hired, but by the hard cut off with the previous roster. There does seem to be a massive hype machine going right now, but it’s not moving the needle for me. My excitement is close to zero.
My enthusiasm has eroded. Perhaps a big name hire would have led to some rush of excitement for me. But, instead we went for a hire that didn’t move the needle (for me). The new roster served (for me) as almost a way to sever myself from any emotion regarding IU basketball.
that doesn’t mean this wasn’t a good hire. That doesn’t mean we didn’t finally get it right.
but, for me at least, my interest has waned significantly.
I think the hype machine is what they need to do. Perhaps it’s an admission that the fan base has eroded, that this may be the last chance to get it right, that an entirely new roster does risk a further erosion….,they had to try something, imo

This is a great sentiment (although I wouldn’t call it hype. It’s something else). But what you say makes sense. I think the feeling around the program is more curiosity than true excitement.
We will see how it goes. But reconnecting to the fan base is a priority. The connections are what makes college sports different than pro sports.
That's a tricky age, I took my daughter to a game when she was 1 and ended up leaving at half time. She did great until half time and then she had an absolute meltdown.@iunorth IU has a lot to repair within the fanbase as it has eroded over the last 5+ years. @willray My wife took him to the Kennesaw State game. He napped in the car down, they arrived mid first quarter and lasted the whole game. Took a micro nap in the car back and was absolutely wired until like 9pm (in a good way).
@thehoosierhuddle My daughter is 11 now, maybe I need to take her again. We were at a basketball game when she had the meltdown. Would really like to try and make a game this year.
