@pryght Yes.

And for those who wanted Ben -- he wasn't that interested in IU.  He wouldn't talk with us until he tourney was over, which is not how someone who wants the job behaves.  I think he's a good coach, maybe a very good coach, but when I heard that it became clear he may not fit here.  And then he ended up in Iowa, where MBB is behind football, wrestling, and tied with WBB, that was more evidence he wasn't looking for a program like IU.  All this makes him less of a "what could have been" in my opinion.

As for Dusty, he was never an option due to Quinn blocking any change after Woody season three.  And he was never leaving UM after one season to restart again.  I guess he's a what could have been... but our chance was 1.5 years ago... we all need to move on after 1.5 years.

I'm liking CDD so far, it's early but I don't see any red flags yet.  He started with literally nothing usable from Woody's terrible program... not one coach or player (Sisley was coming here no matter what).  While there should be expectations with how much we spend on the program, like making the tourney, we need to give CDD some time to build.

@tammany I would bet Ben does better than Drock.  Hope not, but that’s where smart money would go.

@pryght dusty was an epic miss.  Will be talked about like Brad Steven’s.  Only IU Fs that up twice.  No school has ever screwed up worse.

@tammany it’s a guess but it’s the favored guess. Every metric and past results would indicate Ben will do better.

its my guess that we are better than PU in football too.

11-30 on 3's 37%

15-19 FT's 79%

Not to shabby going up a professional team.

No, very good. We have a group of shooters, most have handle to go with it.

From the highlights though it didn't look like near the sort of tough perimeter pressure the strong NCAA programs have developed. Maybe I'm wrong because all the reports mention their 'length' giving us fits early.

I’m not a regular over here so I know nothing about basketball.I was LMAO at the first half comments but didn’t say anything.

Came back after the game and was reminded why I don’t post over here much wow.A completely new roster of kids who have been playing together for a month with a new coach and it’s the first of August.

Everyone who’s worrried about hiring a ‘mid level’ coach or whatever it is you call him are in for quite a shock.

I’ll check back after the first loss to read all the fire DD posts😂

@ccmac Good comeback, the team we played didn’t look like they where guarding much.

We are gonna shoot a lot of threes, all I’m confident about at this point.

When's game 2 with Megabet? Not until tomorrow? Pretty cool such a long trip.

This is perfect to help an all-new program develop.

Should be a good game.

@openwheel yes tomorrow.  I agree, Great trip for a team full of brand new dudes.  Now they have to be the right dudes for it to matter, but it for sure is an opportunity to grow.

@cavanagh

I’m one of the few here still not sold on Dusty. Over half of his wins last season were decided by 4 points or fewer, including 12 such victories in Big Ten play. When you compare that to other successful B1G coaches like RMK, Keady, or Izzo, none of them ever came close to that many narrow wins in a season. Most averaged only around two per year; Twelve is quite an anomaly.

Some will see Dusty’s record in close games as a sign of poise and coaching skill, but to me it suggests his luck ran unusually high last season. That said, I was impressed by his win over Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament.

As for this season, I won’t be surprised if Yaxel Lendeborg, Elliot Cadeau, and Morez Johnson turn in fairly average performances.

@ge-off Are we really still using the phrase "butt hurt"? Anyhow, I already referred to myself as a pissy schoolgirl. What more do you want from me? Geesh.

@pryght put it this way, in Dusty’s first year at Mi he had a better season than we have under the last 4 coaches and 20+ years.  Davis was the last coach to have a better season.  He won the big ten tournament.  Something I can only wish to happen in my life time.

I am hook line and sinker sold on May.
