and Lamar needs help... he can't produce to the level he's capable of without someone else taking some of the heat away.
If the football team is honored at halftime at AH and DD doesn't keep the hoops team out there, he's a punk. This isn't on the same level, but whatever positive feelings I had left for Archie vanished when he didn't keep the team out to honor Knight.
Honor history ... or you're a little bitch. Let's see if Door Knob gets it.

I would not be shocked if he does not.
@gthomas That might be a little bit much... One, why bring it up if it hasn't happened yet? And two, if they do honor football, it'll likely be the Purdue game on Tuesday... and CDD might need to be making halftime adjustments to try to win the damn game. You're looking for things to complain about with the current bball team and coaches, before they've happened. Its not even in the same stratosphere as the RMK appearance. And CDD has already been very openly supportive of the IU football team, on many occasions.

It's partly the AD's fault, if you're going to have a halftime ceremony honoring Bob Knight they should have gotten an agreement with Purdue or just declared that they are doing an extended halftime if they wanted the team(s) present for the ceremony.
CBS or wherever it was televised wouldn't let that happen. That was 100% on Archie. I guaran-goddamn-tee you Crean would have kept the team out. Say what you want about TC, but he understood and respected what IU hoops was all about. It's partly the AD's fault, if you're going to have a halftime ceremony honoring Bob Knight they should have gotten an agreement with Purdue or just declared that they are doing an extended halftime if they wanted the team(s) present for the ceremony.
IU would be better off staying out, actually, because DK's "adjustments" rarely work.@gthomas That might be a little bit much... One, why bring it up if it hasn't happened yet? It doesn't matter anyway ... Knob is already on borrowed time

1. because this is a public forum to discuss events past , present and future and what might be. Like any sports talk radio show .. really.
2. you're right it isn't the same as RMK. But would be a classy move and we should ask or rather tell opponent we are doing this and will need an extended halftime. Painter would oblige I'm sure.
complaints are warranted. This program has had one misstep after another. To expect they won't screw this up isn't out of character

agreed. We play worse in the 2nd half anyway. Maybe it would help
@gthomas And then you'd bitch when they come out of the half and don't play well... I get it. His teams, actually, do often make adjustments and play better coming out of the half. They've been plagued with really, really bad starts of games, and have had some really poor finishes. But the "middle" parts of games, more often than not, have been good to really good.
Plenty of stuff to complain about, don't need to start making up stuff that might, or might not, happen in the future. And then double down on it with non factual stuff.
The actual answer... honor them right before the starting lineups, and make sure you coordinate that with Purdue, and with the TV company doing the game. I'm sure the TV would want to air that anyways.
You're right. I'll quit "bitching" and "making stuff up." The traveling circus called IU basketball just isn't worth it right now.@gthomas And then you'd bitch when they come out of the half and don't play well... I get it. Not so sure we can even win at rutgers at this point.
@gthomas Plenty to complain about. CDD not respecting what Cig has done, not honoring the job, etc... there isn't evidence that supports that's the type of person he is. In fact, there is evidence its not how he is, or what he'd do. Having said that, if our AD, and Purdue, and/or the TV company end up deciding that halftime of the Purdue game is THE time to honor the football team... that's a tough spot to put a coach in, that's trying to win a very important basketball game. I was pissed at Archie, at the time, but those halftime adjustments can be pretty consequential. Coach Knight himself often referred to the "middle 8 minutes" as some of the most important in the game. Last 4 of half, first 4 of second half. And I assume he used halftime talks accordingly.
And the other was just a reference to your pot shot on him not making adjustments anyways... which is often not true. They often do play well in early parts of the 2nd half. And CDD often has made good adjustments within games. Unfortunately, he's had to often make adjustments due to really, really bad starts of games.
If IU loses at Rutgers and struggles against Purdue, it might get nasty inside Assembly Hall; the Iowa boos might have been just the beginning. Hell, I don't think even Woody heard boo birds in only his 16th game. (I've tried to erase the Bigfoot Brigade era from my sports memory, so I can't be sure of this.)
