@cavanagh Again, he needed players and his job is to win. Any coach is going to evaluate who's there. Rice, Carlyle and Tucker all had talent. Guarantee he didn't flush them without researching it and I think it's obvious discussions got farther along with Tucker just because he didn't immediately put his name in the portal. the #s Rice and Carlyle were reported to have gotten under Woody were ridiculous, and he had to put together and entire roster during a season when he likely had less NIL to use and NIL amounts seemed to have jumped about 50%. There's your most obvious answer as to why he didn't keep any of those guys around.

I don't know why Enright can't score a bit. You'd think he'd be good on cuts and get 3 or 4 layups or short banks a game. He gets past the defense for us then kicks it out. Shot doesn't look too bad. I guess he'll bag a three now and then when the shot clock is getting low. He doesn't seem to mind just being a facilitator.

I think he's a useful player. Glad he's a Hoosier. Help everyone learn the system, show what being a team player is, play defense. He'll force some turnovers.

In the long run we'll have quicker guards who can't score much, trouble is they'll probably still shoot . Smile

Enright should absolutely be playing.

No question.

@tr32 Yeah, I think Cav mostly/only values scoring. Watching Enright last night, he is a good defender and pest on the perimeter. Someone will take a swing at him this year out of frustration. He's not, never has been and never will be a scorer. He had a wide open 3'er in the lane last night and was still looking to pass. I also saw a video of the last possession of the Baylor game and he hounded the ball all the way up the court, and blew up their last shot. Someone can take him in the post, but that's not where he plays and he's disruptive on the perimeter. I do think he'll rightly go to the bench at some point, but he's a security blanket for DeVries. It's the reverse of wanting a pass rush to disrupt the other teams passing. We don't have much post D so he wants pressure on the ball and make it tough to get entries and limit and disrupt post touches. Enright will help there.

@kkott he’s just not a guy that gets more than 10 mins on an elite team.  If he is starting or playing 25 mins a game in January we aren’t where I want us to be.  He can come off the bench for  5 mins spurts twice a game.  That’s his value.

@cavanagh OK, but we're not an elite team. Short of the biggest NIL budget, AND getting lucky like FL did with Clayton, no first year complete rebuild team will be. We're off to a really good start with no depth. OK, Coach Cav, take Enright out of the lineup, and who are you putting in? And remember, Dorn was out of the lineup all this time you've been bitching about Enright, so it can't be him. The only option is Alexsis, and both he and Bailey have been foul prone, and then you really have no post players. I agree, it's not ideal, and he'd not be playing much for top 10 teams, but that's not us right now. We're undefeated, have scored 100 in 2 straight games, shooting nearly 50% on 3's and have beaten 2 teams that probably will be in the tourney by 30. And, we're rid of Woodson. Do you see why it's annoying that you're bitching?

@cavanagh He's somewhere in between what you just said, and him being a starter and 25-30 mpg guy.  Your main point is not wrong, but how far you drag these guys down ends up nullifying your point.  He's an important guy, there were times last night when we needed him on the court, for defense, energy, and ball movement.  10-15 mpg, with 2-3 stretches of play in each half... as long as the other guys are all pressuring and defending with lots of energy, and as long as the ball is moving around, while he's not on the court.  Otherwise he'd need to play more.

He's not a starter but will be a good glue and energy guy off the bench.  Yes, there are times I was thinking, why is he playing but then he finishes well under the basket.  I like him a lot better than Leal.

@auburnhoosier oh he’s way better than Leal.  Thank god those days are over.  I’ve probably been too hard on him, he for sure has a place on our team. It is not starting tho.  And his shot is broke, I hate white short guys that can’t shoot.

Now it's starting to make sense. You have to love yourself before others can Cav.

@cavanagh Its something that's always been weird, to me.  Especially coaches kids like Trey Galloway and Gabe Cupps.  Where the hell was dad when they were in their formative shooting years?  Obviously both were successful without having better shots, but man... both would have been quite a lot better with better shot mechanics.

Hey North, was I right about Enright and Bailey?  Come on!  Come on!  Give it to me!  Smile /p>

I agree about Enright, by the way.  I completely understand Cav's point - and agree with it for the most part, but Enright is the kind of player whose limitational impact will vary depending on the guys he's playing with.  You all know this:  if he's playing with better players the effects of his limitations will be less - if he's playing with worse players those limitations will be a lot more glaring.  The art of putting together the batting order...  Smile /p>

@seyton I guess its a natural thing to happen... my oldest was receptive to instruction from the start, worked at his game and shot, and has beautiful form.  My 2nd oldest, not nearly as receptive as his older brother, but has come around in the last couple years.  He has pretty solid form, but not quite as pretty, or repeatable, as his older brother.  My youngest... ha ha ha... hot head, won't listen to thing I say, but is very athletic, and is the type that just figures things out and succeeds.  His shot looks like a bad version of Reggie Miller and Trey Galloways shots...but he makes them at a decent clip, and is good at other areas of the game.  He's a 7th grader, so its getting pretty late to fundamentally change his shot.

Long winded way of saying, I can see how an ugly looking shot comes to be, and is allowed.  But I gotta think if I was an actual basketball coach, and my boys were in the gym with me nearly every day, my two youngest boys would have quite a lot better form than they do.
