@openwheel The NCAA seems incapable of doing what makes sense: Football: 16 team playoff. Basketball: 64 teams. Sports are rapidly approaching the law of diminishing return, and I think Disney's recent shenanigans with ESPN/ABC not being on Youtube TV and being offered as another subscription crosses that line for many. I know I loved Gameday, but over the last 2 weekends, I've adopted the Big Noon pregame and think the football discussion with Quinn, Leinert, Ingram and Meyer is superior.

The NCAA has no role in the college football playoff.

@mushroomgod Because 16 is the right #. Everyone plays an equal # of games, it's not expanding the # of games at all, but it does include 4 more teams. Conversely, I think the smart move is to pare down the bball tournament, back to 64. 68 adds nothing, and 128 will dilute the product. A NC will never come from the 65-128 seeded teams.

@kkott Check out CBSports pregame. It’s very good too.

I think the past two years of Woodson was disastrous - not just because of the lack of success (and style of play, philosophy, etc) but because of Quinn Buckner, in particular, putting Woodson getting a paycheck over the wellbeing of our program, let alone the success of our program.  After a string of bad hires and bad decisions over the course of 30 years (30 years!)

They knew after two years of Woodson and certainly three that it was bad and only getting worse and they simply didn't care.  The politics of one man and a few big donors were clearly more important than the disastrous results of those politics.

When juxtaposed against the deathly seriousness and laser sharp focus of Coach Cignetti and the football program and their instant success, it doesn't surprise me that people aren't super excited for basketball.  The basketball program, already badly faded and worn down from years of administrative neglect, was dealt a near death blow by the Buckner scam.

If people didn't realize the thread IU basketball was hanging on by - and 30 years of insipid management suggests they never did - the machine that IU football (?) is has certainly shined a spotlight on it.

Sad thing is in reality Woody was likely 10x worse than most of you can imagine.  TJD staying for 2 years and the Cook/Simone money covered many of his numerous warts.

@hoosiers94 Hey, if I can wake up and find that IU football is #2 in the nation with just a couple of games left in the season - I have to believe that the men’s BB program can rise from the ashes & be relevant again.

@mushroomgod I think we will still be ok with the big conference games, but attendance will lag at the others
