I don’t know but there have been a couple that opened near us in the last few years.  Not like I remembered it though.

we had one up here in Valpo until a couple of years ago. It closed. It was in a gas station.  Never got it there but did eat it often at IU

@hoosiers94 No, Noble Romans is gone from Bloomington. They have a couple of "craft pizza pubs" in Indy and maybe a couple of other towns. They are in some convenience stores. But it's not really the same. Loved the one at 3rd and Union.

@ams66 There’s still a traditional Noble Romans in Columbus, but it’s the only nearby one that I’m aware of.  There’s one in Franklin too, but it’s now one of the revamped “craft pizza” places.

@jj_mcclure It's been a few years since I was at the one in Columbus. I think we were the only people in there at dinner time last time we went. Sort of assumed they had closed up by now.

Not sure if mentioned yet but there is still a La Bamba's in Normal, IL.  I try to go 1-2x per yr.  Maybe not quite as good sober but still pretty darn good. They have a great location not far from campus.  The hot sauce is still homemade.  Great memories for me from both Bloomington and Champaign.

yeah I can imagine it tasted a whole lot better when I was 21 and a little tipsy than it would today sober.  :).  But we will always have the memories.  I first tried it in Champaign ... I was sold

Since we're now on pizza, thoughts on Pizza Hut? I don't think I've eaten there since the eighties, but I always liked it -- the thin, crispy crust was the only way to go -- and there was a time when I'd hit the lunch buffet on the regular. This article brought it to mind. I may have to hit it again.

@unclemark at

 I like Pizza Hut always have.  Thin and crispy as well.
Up here in NWI we no longer have any locations. The franchisee went BK and no one has stepped in to reopen any of them.  Been a year and a half at least.  I think someone bought the Hobart and Merrillville franchises and they maybe opening soon but none others. Sucks

Pizza Hut is barely hanging on in Bloomington. They have one location open over on the west side and one in Ellettsville.

i guess that doesn't surprise me. I don't know how many pizza places are in Bloomington but most college towns have many.  The hut seems like it would flourish in a more rural or rather in burbs with fewer options.

There are some thriving pizzarias but they are all delivery. The only sit-down pizza restaurant that still seems to be doing well is Mother Bears. Even Cafe Pizzaria on Kirkwood is gone.
