@ams66 I loved Pancho Villas! Lived up the street on Walnut and could walk there in 84'-85'. The hilarious thing to me is that their beer special on tap was that famous Mexican brew: Molson Golden! $2 pitchers for happy hour that year and everything on the menu was half off on Sundays from like 4-6 or something. You could also help yourself to chips and salsa when you got there, and I can remember dying while waiting on our pitcher to arrive after a bunch of their hot salsa. Paid for many pitchers there with change. We watched the '85 Nova v Gtown championship game there.
I loved how they had a Slushie machine set up that dispensed frozen margaritas.
I grew up in armpit southern Indiana and Pancho's was my introduction to anything resembling Mexican food. (Prior to that the closest I'd ever had was Taco Bell.) I don't know how really "authentic" it actually was, but I've loved Mexican food ever since.
86-90 for me and man you guys are reminding me of a lot of my old haunts!!
That was a great 4 year stretch!

If I recall we were there same time. I graduated in 94
We just missed each other. I was 86-90.
Seeing kkott's info on Pancho Villa's explains why I barely remembered the place. Mustards was another one that went under while I was there.
yes Mustards... burgers 🍔
What was the name of that mom and pop French restaurant over by Zagrebs? Never went to it but some pi phis I was into used to. No one probably knows this one
@hoosiers94 I think so but maybe open only for private events now. I've actually never eaten there.
I may have to put that on my list next time I'm down there.
@hoosiers94 Here's the perfect Purdue gear, imo, if you've got to wear some!

The only time we went to Chi Chi's was for MNF. Hot dog bar and beer special. Win halftime trivia and you got to watch the second half in the big recliner they'd wheel out.

Don't get me wrong, I was a beer guy all the way, but seeing that Slushie machine dispensing margaritas just made me smile.
