What I have learned over the last 15 years is there is always an excuse for the coach no matter how long they have been here. I knew in year one archie was not the guy but the excuses continued for another several years just like they will with DD. If next year is like this one I bet people blame carr and say he gave DD bad advice. DD is not the answer he may have a few 21-12 seasons as a ten seed but that is the ceiling imo
@arioznahoosier4554 If IU doesn't make the tournament next year and it's exactly like this year with no development, no program standard being set IU should cut bait. There was almost nothing that can be taken from this year outside of we need better players, that can be used to build upon.

Its just rinse and repeat so at this point it really does not matter they have proven to be incapable of hiring a great coach. Not much of a point of throwing a ton of money at bbal anymore when you can use it for football.

Basketball absolutely needs to be de-emphasized. Football drives everything. Any school not good at football is completely irrelevant and will get left behind when new TV contracts are negotiated.

I think its probably good we had the football success we did so we would quit putting all our time and effort into a basketball program that has not been relevant in 30 years. We now have something else to cheer finally instead of a dead program

The bar is so low that just 22 wins will keep him here a very long time. He should be greatful the last two coaches were so bad just make the tourney and Dolson will say you did your job. Like many have said this is a retirement gig you come to IU to get rich.

It is not going to happen at IU you do not get fired after two years. You just do not. Like many have said this is 100% a retirement gig. DD will walk away with over 20 million dollars in two or three years and never have to work another day in his life if he does now want too. They say noboby wants this job but why not you get 20 million to basically stink for four years. Most places pay you maybe 3 million tops to stink IU pays you 5 million to stink.
I expected IU to compete for a NCAA spot, and they did that. Not much you can do if you can score five feet from the basket. That's all roster construction. There have been signs that he isn't the guy but there have also been signs that he can learn from his mistakes. Let's hope he does.
