That's 27% against the sisters of the poor. Not a good start to things ... 50% from the line. I know I can beat that.
@hoosiers94 August, first organized game playing together, in Puerto Rico... I love that they took 33 threes. And I love that Conerway seems to be as advertised defensively. And I love how active Bailey, Alexis, and Harris all were. And I love DeVries stuffing the stat sheet, justifying the Luka vibes he's given off at Creighton and early on at WVU. And I love Sisley showing promise as a true frosh.
agreed. All those things are good. And I like them as well , but shooting is shooting. Those guys play year round. They shoot everyday. So getting in rhythm is an excuse to me. Hopefully it's just one bad game.
I think Sisley is going to be a beast.
@hoosiers94 Time will tell if its an outlier, or not. Player specific histories say it likely is. If the ball and player movement continue to create 25-30+ good 3 point looks...this team is going to be VERY good offensively. But, no clue if they were mostly good looks, and it doesn't matter a ton since its a summer game against a poor opponent. Lets see what they do these next two games.
agreed. But for once can't we just click and do what the staff is preaching all about. You know what I mean. It seems like we have been making excuses for 25 years just once I'd like to say yeah we have a ball club and we are damn good. I guess time will tell, I don't think this is our year but hopefully we are on the right track But 50% from the line that's piss poor no matter the opponent or time of year. Seriously. You play like you practice.
@hoosiers94 If CDD isn't worried, I'm not either. We know TD and LW are really good shooters and I don't think that's changing just because they put on an IU uniform. We're going to be a good shooting team, but if it makes you feel better to fret, go ahead.
show me with actions not words. It may be one bad game. Hoping that's the case ! But arguing with the fact that 50% from the line is piss poor or not cmon .. it is. 27% from 3 isn't good but I can understand that one given the circumstances... once game does not a team make especially in PR on August 6. But is doesn't mean that I have to like or agree that those percentages are even remotely acceptable. If you think CDD didn't mention it to them you don't know basketball and the game at that level. I'm sure he didn't get in their face but he mentioned it guarantee it.
@hoosiers94 I am very excited to have Trent at IU. When I was a pastor in Pennsylvania (we moved back to the Fort Wayne area back in Oct) a former pastor of my church there now lives around Heritage Hills H.S. I told him that if Trent signed with IU I would email him about it because I was so excited.
While I regarded God as a tyrant I thought my sin a trifle; But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought God was hard, I found it easy to sin; but when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could ever have rebelled against One who loved me so, and sought my good.” C. H. Spurgeon
Until this becomes a trend, I'm not worried one bit. 33 threes is enough for me to have immense hope for this season. I am STARVING for the Hoosiers to employ modern basketball strategy, and we finally have it. Here's hoping we execute it well. If we do, the ceiling is high.

@hoosiers94 Could be. Check back on all this in December or so. The only 2 players on this entire team that have played together before, for Coach DeVries, are Tucker and Connor. Lots of potential factors that could lead to anomalous shooting struggles... Summer game after being at the beach for a couple days, tired legs from this being their "first" real game in front of fans together, playing with a foreign style basketball (seems funny, but I promise this is a little bit of an adjustment for some), not sure who shot the free throws?...maybe it was mostly Alexis and Harris...when usually, we'll have a more even mix from our better outside shooters.
Shooting is very, very far down on my list of concerns for this team, at this point. Even if they have games similar to this one, shooting wise, to finish out Puerto Rico trip, and start the regular season similarly, I'll still be more worried about defense and rebounding.
The Euro-invasion coming in hopefully will help those numbers!
Maybe we shot poorly due to being in puerto Rico? Doesn’t the ball rotate the other way in the air like water in the toilet?🚽
Maybe the program is eternally cursed to shoot poorly.
The Puerto Rico gym just must have reminded them of Assembly Hall.
