The success of the football program has taken off both the heat and interest for the basketball program. The Hoosier faithful will be focused on football games and the portal during January. A month from now the dissatisfaction for basketball will greatly increase if the team fails to win a couple big games. With the talent level that's assembled DeVries and company have a tough road ahead.

DD is actually lucky the football team won again so for the next 8 days at least nobody will pay any attention to basketball. If more people will actually paying attention they would see that this team is not good and the heat would be alot worse. You can get lower level seats for Sunday for $21 bucks. $6 in the upper level.
It also appears cig will be a top three paid college coach now so yeah its clear the NIL is going to be going to football.

I see the new year hasn’t changed many’s outlook.
I think pessimism is natural. I share some of it. But the levels of it, and the absolute nature of it, from a handful in this thread are lazy…and frankly come across as pissing and moaning as much as anything.
Were a decent chunk in to DDs first season. He’s 10-3. He has a top 30 overall KenPom team, that’s top 20 defensively. The vibe is the record, and metrics, will turn south now that we’re in the strictly B10 play. I feel that too. But I’m not certain of it. We’re pretty good at home, and we have lots of chances for trajectory changing wins, at home, coming up.
The only things I don’t like, so far…not bringing in Hansberry, or someone like him. And then our focus and effort inconsistencies. Those are 2 pretty big dislikes. But there ARE good, foundational, fun, follow worthy things going on too…for those willing to look for them. It’s lazy to completely disregard one side, when there are absolutely, easy to see things on both sides.

I'm not saying that Devries couldn't have done any better with his roster construction. But the idea that he could have "bought" a guaranteed Sweet 16 team is possibly not realistic, given a number of realities which we know and don't know.
He'll get two years minimum, absent any major scandal. I'm going to see how this season turns out, and how next season's roster looks, before firming up any opinions. What other choice is there, anyway?

I guess i thought given we had unlimited playing time to offer along with what I thought was top ten nil he would of done alot better in the portal.But now it looks like you only get big nil money if your buddies with Quinn Buckner. I am guessing tons of money will be spent on the football portal this month as well so who knows how much dd will get to spend
