Holy hell that is bad. UK shot 20% from three and 38% from the field and beat us by double digits. You have to try to play that bad.
This team has such a void of talent, Wilkerson getting his 4th and coach leaving him on the bench put the game away. Bailey and enright on offense against good teams is sad. In fairness, bailey on defense is piss poor too. Atleast Conor brings something on that end, but man playing 4 on 5 with him on the court we will never win. Far too easy to double Lamar and tuck and they aren’t good enough to carry us against upper level, or in this case very mid teams.
Gonna take some great coaching for us to make the tourney. DD looked like arch last night. We suck again!!!!
@cavanagh You fairly well summarized the ugly loss. The IU defense was also troubling as the Hoosiers failed to get Kentucky to turn the ball over. The Wildcats had only 4 turnovers and the bad Kentucky shooting was caused primarily by their ineptness.
I care less about this team than Woody's last team. I wouldn't have thought that was possible.

We will look back fondly on Woodson and yearn for 19 win seasons over what we have now. A program is supposed to improve after changing coaches, not get worse.

Barkley called it in the beginning of the game. If you live by the 3 , you can't turn the ball over and you have to win the rebounding battle. Believe it or not we tied in the rebounding. Like because of Kentuckys shooting woes. But got killed in the turnover battle. To me the effort was poor once again. This is probably the 4th game I've noticed it. Not only was the effort poor the boneheaded decisions made on both sides of the ball. That's coaching. These guys aren't prepared. Lack of motion especially on the weak side .. as spartan mentioned on another thread. They stand around and then our offense becomes ISO and we don't have a single player on the roster that can execute that against a team with any talent at all. I agree with the comment made that a coaching change is supposed to make you better not worse. If he had a team full of freshman fine but we have a roster full of Jr/Sr even with the 3 freshman we have I only see 1.5 as program builders as of now. Ristic could turn into a full player. Acimovic have no clue.

This is not at all a good team
Two decent players and that's it. Likely going to be a very long year. My enthusiasm is at an all-time low and that's really bad because usually in year one of a coach there is some excitement. But after 20 years of this if just wears you out

They played okay for awhile, but looked gassed by the end. Bad shots, bad rebounding. Not enough shooters.

So is that a ringing endorsement of DeVries coaching ability? Purdue beat Marquette by less than we did at Mackey. PSU took MSU to the wire yesterday who we beat by 40.
I do think DeVries is a very good coach but this roster was very poorly put together.
@iugradman No we won't. The shameful hire and retention of Woodson orchestrated by Quinn Buffoon Buckner will never and should never be looked upon fondly. A pathetic grift by the good ole boys club and the hand delivery of Dusty May to Michigan.

Not impressed with the team or the coaches, right now, at all...
This team didn't exactly get the Woody/QB/Cook budget. When you live and die by the three, and you're not hitting, you better have a tough forward/center. Is that an oversight or lack of budget? Either way, you can't turn the ball over 18 times and win. This team 'should' win the next 5 games but Nebraska is gonna be tough. DD might want to tell everyone that nobody has the greenlight from half court. If they get hot behind the arc, can beat anybody. Will 'steal' one from PU, UM, or MSU. It might be long, but I don't think anything can be as long as Woody's with the best portal players that were available.
