Cigs is very calculated in everything he says.  Whether it is geared towards fans and raising expectations and excitement or managing his players by putting pressure on them or taking away pressure, he has a reason behind everything he says.

He isn't going to insult or piss someone off unless he thinks it helps his team

I'm not talking about that. Although my examples may read like it, but there's more.

I'm talking about having class.

Cigs just getting his value right.  Relax folks, we won't know what Cig can command in the market yet.  Back-to-back CFPs.  We'll be backing up the Brinks truck as we should.  We got plenty of cash around the nation. Just got to stay current.  Go Hoosiers!

@iugradman Pittsburg people really don't root for Penn State much.

While I regarded God as a tyrant I thought my sin a trifle; But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought God was hard, I found it easy to sin; but when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could ever have rebelled against One who loved me so, and sought my good.” C. H. Spurgeon

I don’t see Penn State going after a 64 year old coach.  They will go after a younger guy.  Could be a guy in his mid-50s, or younger.
Maybe a Matt Campbell, Lance Leipold or Kenny Dillingham?

If you can win at Oregon, why move?

Well, technically most programs should hire Cig.  The challenge is that is hard to do.

I wonder if Scott goes to him again this year and bumps the salary even more. You know schools will be offering whatever the top number in all of football is.

I feel good that Cig will stay. Hes 64. Hes built this ship. He gets paid. Nice town, nice University. The rising power in college football. Cig mentions the large alumni base, a lot... Hes not opposed to helping the findraising it seems. He seems happy where he is.

For a Pennsylvania guy though... What if... Cig takes the Penn State job with the idea that Bryant Haines takes over when he retires. Thats a wild scenario I could actually see a very slim chance of, as Haines used them to get his additional salary bump.

It is hilarious how MANY cheap and easy articles have hit the media with - - XXXX school should fire XXXX coach and hire Cignetti!

Durr... Ya think?

LOL

Scott Dolson knew that once. When Cignetti was available...

Another coach and staff that does the moneyball really well is Vanderbilt.

These articles should be saying -- XXX school should fire XXX coach and hire Clark Lea.

Lea is only 44. He came into Vanderbilt pretty much saying they needed the scouting and evaluation part to be first rate to compete with the big powers. And they seem to have done that.

He should be the guy schools throw huge deals at, because maybe he is available. Although he has ties to Vandy, but hes younger than Cig and has a ton of time to build a legacy anywhere.

Cig does seem like he values loyalty

SD gave him his shot after being passed over for so many yrs

I'd be really surprised if he doesn't retire at IU

I think he'll want $12M a year plus a top 5 in the country NIL guarantee.  Provided we can pay him that I doubt he leaves.

Who are the five most underpaid college football coaches? Curt Cignetti leads list

This was a few days before we beat Oregon. Smile

Back on the market for a head coach in the winter of 2023, Indiana must’ve looked back at its checkered football past and wondered: Why don’t we hire a coach who has never lost?
