Don't know how many of you watch Sam, but he's had this guy on a couple times. He is basically an analyst on college talent and seems to have a strong tie with IU. Says he sent a recommendation on someone to IU's staff today and they have interest. It's a long podcast, but very interesting to listen to this guy, who evaluates players on their performance and abilities, not rankings and measurables.
@thehoosierhuddle absolutely. He gets deep in the weeds, but per his comments about IU interest in someone he just sent, his relationship with Ponds (and several other Hoosiers) and his earlier interview with Sam, He's got lots of ties to the IU program and I bet would be interested and interesting! At the end, both he and Sam say IU is their NC pick, and I think that's factoring in the Daley news.
@kkott I give them a listen. We have some snow coming in this weekend, so need something to stay inside and stay busy.
Kinda nice when someone doesn’t lazily predict our demise.
@tammany the earlier interview is kind of funny to listen to. He played college football, and I think ended up at Nevada after a stint at an HBCU, or vice versa, but somehow ended up a fan of Deion and U-CO (maybe he played for him at Jax St?). But, he pulls no punches in how advanced and receptive IU is to scouting vs how poorly CO uses scouting and his analysis. All I could think about when he was talking about how poorly CO operates was "this sounds like Mike Woodson to me!". But, both interviews are very interesting if you're a Hoosier fan and worth a listen.
And, I like Sam. He studies a lot of the statistics and analytics and is very unemotional and objective in his delivery. Think he's a UM fan, but you'd never know it. Has been on the Hoosier bandwagon all season and picked us to beat OSU.
@kkott Yea, I heard that one. It was really interesting, especially how much he interacts with our staff. Good behind the scenes stuff.
Great listen. Thanks.Don't know how many of you watch Sam, but he's had this guy on a couple times. He is basically an analyst on college talent and seems to have a strong tie with IU. The guy in question runs his own evaluation podcast and website for transfers
FWIW: he had Daley rated a 5* transfer, same with Moore
his ratings are very different than everyone else out there. All purely his opinion based on the all 22. I don’t always fully agree with his takes (as no one ever will), but he’s good and has receipts on a lot of guys who turned out to be ballers.
Bummer he doesn’t want to work for IU, he wants to work for a down and out school. Nice people don’t think of us that way anymore I guess LOL
@tammany There's no way IU will beat the Alabama/Oklahoma winner in the QF. Finebaum says so.
T-Cal is a great dude. He loves to interact with players and fans. I watch his film breakdowns. One in particular was the interception play against sayin. He thought IU was in a cover 3 but the more he looked at it he was kind of shocked. It was actually a cover 3 (show) into an inverted Tampa 2. He says BH and IU do some incredible innovative stuff. T-Cal is an asset and really flies under the radar. Seems as though he tried to help coach Prime and got rebuffed. IU coaching staff seems to really like him. So do the players and families.
Oh on a different note…go look at the great back and forth between Oregon and JmU fans. It’s so refreshing and fun. Here’s an X post. Great stuff.
