Looking at our schedule we should have a floor of 8 regular season wins, most likely 10, and I will never question the possibility of 16-0 again
On paper, next year is a tough schedule. Not a lot of "guaranteed locks" outside of the 3 OOC and Purdont. Should be a fun schedule with 4-5 ranked opponents
9 home games to only 3 road games. 6 home games in conference. WOW?!?
Yep I miscounted. Saw Memorial Stadium for Nebraska and counted as a home game. So yeah, 8 home games
@low-level-flyer -We do have 8 home games which is very favorable. Indiana goes undefeated again. @ Natties in a row.

Bizarre schedule. Open with 8 home games. Finish with 4 road games.

That's how fbs schedules posts when the dates aren't announced. They just list the games by home then away. We've got dates for the non-cons & Ohio St. Everything else is TBA.
@drjb assuming our new QB will be pretty good, I'd say yes we'll make the playoff again. Ohio State being the toughest home game. Wouldn't surprise me if they beat us, won't surprise if we win that one either. Not worried about playing at Michigan. At Washington is the tricky, but certainly winnable. Not gonna predict another undefeated regular season, but if Hoover is as good as advertised and can cut down on the turnovers, we could do it again.

beat osu at home then run the table
sec homers claim the rest of our schedule was sh!t and deny us a bye
17-0
natty #2 and heads explode
@unclemark You already know what his prediction is going to be. 12-0 Rose bowl
16-0
National Championship
I don't think we get a bye next yr
17-0

I was thinking about that yesterday--what it would take to go 17-0. It's essentially impossible for a P4 team.
A G5 team could do it by winning out. Just not very likely. A P4 team that goes 13-0 is basically always getting a bye.

I was joking
but you never know what the finebaum types could do
Our conference home slate will be more interesting this year. OSU of course is a mega game. USC is a marquee name and should be pretty darn good next year. We get the bucket game at home. And our two least interesting match-ups Minny and NW are at least are old timey B1G schools.
I see 10-2 but definitely could go 12-0. Obvious concerns are the usual. OSU, Mich, Washington could give us a run , NW is a much improved team but not good enough yet , USC should be good.
my concerns are not only Hoover but the defense. We lose a lot .. Ponds, Fisher, Kamara, etc.
but in Cig we trust. Winning a title is real
hard , winning back to back ...
Its nice we play OSU at home. That'll be a big weekend. Mid October, so both teams roughly 7-0 or so, 1 vs 2... They get Sayin and Smith back, but lose almost as much as we lose on the defensive side. Being in Memorial Stadium makes the difference, and we win. Outside that, "losable" games, appear to be the road games at Michigan and Washington. Nebraska is one to watch too. Rhule has a track record of turning schools around in years 2 and 3. And then the home game against USC. I'm gonna guess we lose one of those 4 games. Bad day maybe, injuries, horrible officiating... something. This years team was historically good, and we had a few games we very easily could have lost. Iowa's starting QB doesn't get dinged up, who knows how that game ends. Cooper taps his toe 3" to the left...that's likely a loss. OSU kicker hits that short FG, who knows how that game ends. Beck throws an accurate ball on that interception... ?? My point is, IU could be just as good as this years team, and have one of those types of games bounce the other way.
So... 11-1. B10 championship game and CFP appearance. If we're healthy where we need to be, repeat as Natty winners. It'd actually be pretty cool to host a CFP game next year. So losing a game might provide that silver lining.
