Better? Worse? Fired up? Either way, this time next week we'll be chatting about it. What do you think? I'm so excited for the game
I think people need to realize that in Game 1, the kinks get worked out. The offense might not be in a rhythm early in these first games. Remember last year, our first game against FIU, the score at half was 21-7. A comfortable 2 score advantage but not exactly blowing their doors off. We did virtually nothing in the 3rd quarter. Defense was lights out but the offense wasn’t in a groove. Rourke was under 200 yards passing in the day. Our top RB was Elijah Green who gained most of his yards on one breakaway run.
while we had 414 total yards of offense, we also had 9 penalties, we were pretty awful in 3rd downs going just 4-10.
Coming out of that game, my gut instinct said that we might get lucky and scrape by at 6-6 and reach a bowl.
I'd be happy with a win & no major injuries. Anything else is icing on the cake.
Yea. No injuries and win by something around the -22.5 line is great (we need that for the old resume). We will likely have bumpy stretches of play and that's normal, understandable, and fine -- it's why we schedule cupcakes early. In the world of CFB, we still have a lot of new guys, especially portal guys, and it's not easy to get them all integrated and clicking. Cig made it look so easy last year and it really isn't easy.
Part of it is just seeing this team play, we have so many new faces I'm not quite sure what we'll look like. I can't wait to see it and I'm optimistic.
I'll feel indifferent as long as we don't have injuries and play a semi clean game.
@red-hornet that's the important thing. Win the games in which you are favored and escape the injury bug and there is nothing else to be concerned with. The season is what it is.....sit back and enjoy the second winningest season in INDIANA football history. Go Cig.
BEAT PURDUE
Just win baby. And no injuries.
I'll feel great then.
Best case is a solid win, and Old Dominion goes on to crush it the rest of the season.
Is that a self imposed limitation?!@red-hornet that's the important thing. Win the games in which you are favored and escape the injury bug and there is nothing else to be concerned with. The season is what it is.....sit back and enjoy the second winningest season in INDIANA football history. Go Cig.
"Second-winningest" or do you mean "the second, winningest"?
Need to cover with no injuries.
I will be looking forward to seeing what is next. As already mentioned, no injuries, a win and knowing what needs to be done to keep getting better.
This time next week I hope to have been able to avoid over analyzing and under appreciating a solid win over a worthy opponent in front of a near capacity crowd.
I will be impressed with the team and looking forward to the next game.
