I would add clock management. Luckily we were able to get a FG before the half with very little. However, we could have saved 30+ seconds by using our TO's with Iowa easily in scoring range.
And we were a bit lucky the opening draw of the drive went for big yardage. Otherwise I think we'd have pulled in our horns with so little time and a long way to get there. It seemed like a very conservative 'well if this gets us something' play. Which is OK. Standard issue stuff. But until he breaks that tackle I don't think we would press the issue.
I'm beginning to think our players must be deaf.
I see a lot of loud stadium TV games where it appears the team is still barking out signals. The guys a few feet away from the QB can hear the adjustments, then the QB makes hand signals to the wideouts.
That's not the snap count, but Cig said we deliberately did not audible because of the noise.
Maybe I'm seeing or remembering wrong and everybody goes silent.
@openwheel that would be risky. Can you imagine how hard it is to hear with those helmets on with those little sound holes? If you have ever played you know how restricting the helmets can be both visually and for hearing.
This silent count issue is incredibly annoying. How in the world is this an issue for us? This is so fixable. If this is a notable issue at Oregon it’s the one thing that actually might get me mad at this staff, who I could not like more.
@walt542 You can use hand signals too. I get what you’re saying. It’s true, but it’s not or should not be impossible to call an audible with crowd noise. Harder? Sure. Just choosing not to do it…I don’t get that.
Yeah, I really haven't. Not since high school. I wasn't a good enough athlete to be on offense anyway. Thought I was, but I remember dropping some balls at receiver in practice, and felt it was because it was hard to get used to the restricted vision, lol. So they hid me at undersized LB (or very average wheels DB) now and then.@openwheel that would be risky. Can you imagine how hard it is to hear with those helmets on with those little sound holes? Everybody has to look in then. And signals have to be simplified, I'm sure.
