By Daley's ESPN player profile, it looks like he was a redshirt junior this past season which surprised me, thought he was a senior.
1. Is this accurate, he was a redshirt junior in '25?
2. I presume he's not currently listed on the roster, is this due to him not being under an NIL contract yet with Indiana?
3. Presume he didn't enter the transfer portal, did he sign papers to go to the NFL?
4. Is there a pathway to return to the '26 Hoosiers?
Please help me fill in the blanks, thx!

Not really any blanks to fill, ESPN is just wrong. He played 4 years. He's done.

Brutal timing on the injury. Likely ends any chance of making a team after sitting out a year and rehabbing off campus. At least I assume the rehab is off campus and subject to whatever insurance limitations there might be. Anyone know how that works in a situation like this?
Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

@hooky I don't know the particulars, but I do know that it's not uncommon for past players to go back and rehab with their college staffs. Now where it might get more complicated here is that the S&C folks have all changed, so wouldn't be surprised if he goes elsewhere to rehab and train. With that said, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if SD has a career in the NFL. That guy has some very impressive get off that you just can't teach. Talked to a member of one of the staffs IU played against and he was the guy they were most concerned about. Said he was just too quick for them to handle and then he proved it in the game.
So he burned his freshman redshirt playing special teams at Kent effing State and recording no stats by the looks of it?
That's nearly as bad as the tragic ending of his senior season, if that's the case, imo.
Of all these players getting 6,7,8 seasons of eligibility through all the loopholes, our guy Daley is getting the short end by the smell of it.
Seems like the only way Daley gets to play for IU in '26 is if the eligibility rule proposal of 5 for 5 gets approval in the next seven months then.
He was a 4 year Sr.

He's gone. He played his freshman year. It's over.
@gros-louis Nothing's over until we say it is. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Yes - no more eligibility. Cig said in a press conference after the injury IIRC that he wished he had another year with him.
The guys that filled in for him during the playoffs did phenomenal, particularly Ndukwe.
Yes, at the time I thought the loss of Daley was going to ruin the run. He was so good. They never had the wrecking ball that SD was again but they held their own.Yes - no more eligibility. Cig said in a press conference after the injury IIRC that he wished he had another year with him.

I don't care that we didn't get more years out of Daley. I just read how seldom these type of injuries heal well, for good strength and power to continue in sports. Hope he heals well enough enough for a lifetime of good activity, if not more.
