@gros-louis IU made their bed with SSAH when they poured money into the renovations instead of building a new arena, which would have been approved and was being pushed for. Look, I get AH is a special place for a lot of people, but it's a terrible arena. There is barely a home court advantage because it's 1/3 empty every game and it's not just because they haven't been what people think Indiana basketball should be. There's a lot of hubris.
IU also has to be willing to get their hands dirty in hoops, they refused to in the past. They can't be the holier than thou program. If they want to win, that attitude has to go. The tradition of "We do things the right way". Nobody cares about the right way anymore. They care about winning games. I am not saying go out and commit crimes, but a least push some boundaries.
Grew up going to games at AH and the memories are numerous, but it was time to replace it when they chose to go the reno route. They had a chance to build new and they should’ve taken it. As many great memories as were made there, it was designed a decade before it was built and it aged out before they even turned a shovel of dirt. We had a chance to start over and passed, but we only put off the inevitable.
