IU vs Bama was the highest rated game in the last 2 CFP's, including the Ohio State vs Notre Dame national title game. It surpassed Georgia vs Ole Miss and even Ohio State vs Miami by a decent margin.
This leads me to my point I want to make. It was less than 4 months ago that Ohio State's president, Ted Carter, said the B1G needed to change the equal revenue-sharing model to better reflect the value of programs with the biggest TV draws.......
@yothn If IU can keep winning they should want the "eat what you kill" model. IU has over 800,000 living alumni.
I like that phrase. IU would certainly do well, assuming all things remain as they are. With that being said, I think it's very short sighted for OSU (or any program) to think that's a prosperous model. We are only as strong as our weakest man so if instead of everyone getting $40 mil (random number), IU takes $60 mil and Purdue gets $20 mil, the B1G product will turn to dog doo in no time. Texas and Oklahoma did that to the Big 12 and crushed its soul from the inside out.....then left them high and dry. I get why programs would think they're justified in that approach but it's nonsense.
IUFB has real media value. That’s so important as the college sports landscape keeps shifting. If you’re not drawing viewers in football you’re irrelevant in college sports.
@hurryinghoosiers - Dominant teams also grow their fan base exponentially. I agree, we're riding an underdog high right now, with fans of other non-traditional winning teams rooting for us because it gives them hope. That will quickly fade, as you pointed out, but we'll gain a new generation of hardcore fans. Current IU students will be hooked forever, just off nostalgia alone. This is whats making their college experience so memorable for them.

Monster ratings. What makes it even more impressive is that the game wasn't during prime time.
