@thehoosierhuddle I inquired in another thread about how well the field drains - since it rarely rains. Anyone know the answer?
If it’s raining during the game, great. I think it helps IU. If it’s just a soggy field from earlier downpours, that concerns me a bit with Bama’s air ball. Advantage to the O if the turf is slick. Could see more busted plays on D and turnovers.
My bullish outlook is showing signs of a bear sneaking in … 😅
@the-watson the field should drain OK. They tarp it too. The timing of the rain keeps changing as well.
I'm thinking back to the Oregon game. It had rained quite a bit leading up to the game in Eugene with temps in the 60s. Oregon is loaded with individual talent and good coaching, but Cig and the fellas shut down the Oregon run game and solutioned for a balanced offensive attack.
There is precedence for what we expect to do Thursday.

Maybe? Bama has had trouble making catches and holding on to the ball, even when it's dry. I thought Simpson also wasn't super on target vs OK. Receivers were dropping balls and there were some mis-thrown balls that required the receivers to adjust to, to get some of the completions they did (that amazing over the defender catch was a severely underthrown ball that took an amazing catch, and some poor D, to even complete). With Bama's level of athletes, I'm expecting that they're going to make an explosive play or 2, but I think a wet ball and field will have a negative impact on their offense also. I don't think the keys are that different: can IU run the ball, and can we get pressure on Simpson. Those will apply whether it's dry or wet I think.
I’m seeing (on my phone) 50% rain chance in Pasadena at 1p local, down to 30% at 3 and 0% at 4.
While I do want the Hoosiers to put the smackdown on Bama, I hope IU's 2026 starting QB makes it out of Pasadena relatively unscathed.

Wut?
rain, schmain...
I more worried about shaking off the rust from the long layoff
On a flight with the PK from the 68 Rose Bowl team.
@cd2 So, I think my question was poorly stated. My concern is with the condition of the field with all the rain. Does the Rose Bowl actually have an effective drainage system to handle a high volume of rain (beyond tarps) - seeing how they don’t typically see this much rain for a football gm? That’s my question. I assume the answer is ‘Yes’, as most big time venues do (even Oregon and IU).
Does anyone know? Guess I’ll just “Google it”
