It's still five days out so the forecast could change, but right now it's looking like New Year's Day in Pasadena will be pretty soggy.
I say "Bring it (the rain) on!" Alabama's offense is one-dimensional - - the pass. Rain will adversely affect them much more than us.
Simpson had a bad case of fumble-itis early in the season. He fumbled in five consecutive games. Add some rain to our fierce pass rush and poor Ty could be in for a very long afternoon.
Selfishly I wanted good weather for the game, but a slop game probably favors IU
@thehoosierhuddle Yep. It stinks for the fans in attendance, but I welcome any competitive advantage. If we end up wet, it's not the worst thing in the world. At least it won't be cold (low 60s).
First rainy Rose Bowl since 1955
IU has the #3 ranked rush defense and Alabama the #30. That would seem to be an advantage for IU if it's rainy.

70 years. Wow.
Forecast continues with very high rain chances. Little to no wind.
@big-ryan I don't know. Sometimes a little bad weather enhances the experience. The possibility of IU beating Bama? If that were to happen, those lucky Hoosiers in attendance will be telling that story until they can't anymore! Go Hoosiers!
Ugh. While the rain may benefit us via the running game, it also may lead to more “lucky/unlucky” plays like slips, falls, etc., & also shortening the game. Dumb stuff creeping in like cleats & such. I think these things benefit the inferior team, being Alabama.
Yes, I may be paranoid.
Yeah, we are a high skill team. Bad weather helps keep it closer and increases the chance of lucky or unlucky bounces. I think poor conditions help the underdog.
Would have preferred good weather. But we will be fine.
@openwheel - I would agree if all things were equal but Bama simply can't run. If the weather makes it hard for them to pass, their offense will be stagnant.
@oneeyedundertaker I think you are being paranoid. I think rain is going to help the better running team, the more disciplined team, the team from the north that deals with bad weather more often, and the team that doesn't rely on their 5 star athletes as much. Let's see, that means I think it would favor... oh yeah, IU! Go Hoosiers!
The forecast has been updated. 100% chance of rain and 1-2 inches of rain expected the day of the game. That's a hell of a lot of rain.

But that's been shifted to the morning and not much rain expected in the afternoon. I assume the field is covered.
@dbmhoosier They do cover it with a tarp thats in 9 sections, but they were still painting it today. 1-2 inches is a lot. It may not be played in a deluge, but it'll be a soggy track
