how can you prove tampering though when communication is done through agents and is also a legal one way street for players to contact schools? It can never be proven unless they deal with the agents part. From my understanding it’s technically not tampering as long as the schools aren’t contacting the athlete directly.Late to the party here. I am on Dad Duty today. Kid loves the big slide at the playground.
There needs to be guardrails in CFB. There are none, there's no penalty for tampering. Everyone does it. Deals don't just materialize out of thin air.
Smells like there's some probability Alberto took a meeting while in Atlanta.
Can't imagine that went over well with Coach.
@thehoosierhuddle I remember reading a story about sturgeon spearing season in Michigan. It's only open for like a week, and only during daylight hours, but magically, about 70% of all the sturgeon taken are somehow speared on the first day! Just like all those portal deals that get negotiated and signed on that first day!
@oneeyedundertaker - Youre right, taking a man for his word is such a simple way to look at things. I should base my beliefs on conspiracy theories. 🙄
It’s not a theory, it is what played out.
Probably that.
But his Georgia Tech deal happened immediately after he portaled. Hard to believe it wasn't in the works for some time. Like when Sorsby left.
Maybe Alberto was almost resigned to coming back, since he probably knew what a reasonable offer from us was going to be, but maybe GT made their offer only once he portaled and legal.
Most likely he knew he was leaving as soon as Hoover signed & said what he needed to so as to not become a distraction for the playoff run. If he says anything other than “I plan to be back & compete for the job” it’s going to raise questions, maybe even to his brother. I applaud everyone’s altruism, but realistically he has known he was leaving for a while & had been working on a deal with GT. Perhaps why he didn’t get in the Oregon game…
@oneeyedundertaker It's why I did not bother with writing a long article on it. What was he supposed to say? He's leaving...
Probably that.

Is it more important to punish a player that you know is leaving after the season or more important to make sure your starting QB doesn't get injured during the end of a game that is out of reach?
I still think Cig should have put in Alberto

I agree, didn’t like it & obviously don’t know if that’s why…

yea, could be a reason we aren't thinking of.
LOL But, good point.@thehoosierhuddle I remember reading a story about sturgeon spearing season in Michigan. It's all good: let Alberto hone his skills at GT and Cig can poach him back for his final Heisman winning season !!!
So be it. Hopefully he does great.
Guess he wasn’t up for the starting QB competition some suggested was going to take place.🤔
No one suggested it. People took him at his quote. Pretty simple really.
What quote?
@jackskip23 he said at the NC game media days he was staying.
@jackskip23 he said at the NC game media days he was staying.
I believe others made the claim that he said he was staying, but there aren’t any quotes from him saying he would stay. Mentioning this because I had consistently been told for several weeks by someone in the program that he was very likely gone if another quarterback was brought in. I just never saw him say it and was trying to see if he ever actually did.
