No one suggested it. People took him at his quote. Pretty simple really.
Every other team had already extensively reviewed other team's players and portal entries and had been working those for awhile.
But now, all eyes turn toward Indiana and Miami because we have the current 5 day window for players to announce, other teams are done. So there probably is a massive amount of pressure when all the other schools can focus on tampering with only two teams rosters.

I updated the Portal Tracker thread but wanted to mention it here as well. Redshirt freshman Evan Lawrence has entered the portal. This appears to be further confirmation that Carter Smith will be back to man left tackle for his senior season. That's awesome news but Lawrence exiting does leave a dent in offensive line depth, particularly at tackle. We project Smith at left tackle and Adedamola Ajani to start at right tackle but behind those two? Very little. Baylor Wilkin is a tackle but there's not much else. IU is down to just 13 scholarship OL and many of those are either RS FR or FR. Indiana will likely try to fight hard to retain guys like Bray Lynch and keep him from Texas' prying eyes as well as find a veteran depth piece or two from the portal.

But his Georgia Tech deal happened immediately after he portaled. Hard to believe it wasn't in the works for some time. Like when Sorsby left.
Maybe Alberto was almost resigned to coming back, since he probably knew what a reasonable offer from us was going to be, but maybe GT made their offer only once he portaled and legal.

There needs to be guardrails in CFB. There are none, there's no penalty for tampering. Everyone does it. Deals don't just materialize out of thin air.
