Since Cig signed his new deal requiring the staff salary pool to be top 5, reviewed or adjusted if we made the CFP quarterfinals. Did that include this season already? Because that clause was met once we had the bye.

Will be a good look for the recruiting season. Can say yes, Haines will be your coach if you come to Indiana.

They’re done chasing the impossible legacy of RMK, time to make a new one in football. Dolson is smart to go all in for that reason as well as the enormous revenue & attention football can give you.  I’m sure he still wants to make bball a consistent winner, but football is gonna be king at IU…

Agree.

Hopefully IUBB figures it out someday, but with this staff and the importance of CFB to an athletic dept, going all in and prioritizing football makes sense and we’re doing just that!

@tammany Right, it doesn't happen w/o the support of AD Dolson & President Pam Whitten, both should be in Indiana's HOF!

This makes all the sense in the world.

He just lead what I think is the best defensive effort I've ever seen at IU, which solidified the Broyles award for the assistant of the year, for the entire nation.

Cig knows what he has in terms of assistants and their talents.  He wasn't kidding when he said he was going to make it really hard for them to want another job.

If Haines and Shanahan had similar deals it makes you wonder if he will be next?

Does anyone know which school(s) were poking around with Bryant before he signed this new deal?

Last year I know it was OSU and PSU to be DC.  This year maybe it was HC at a G5?

Keep him as long as you can. 3 Million a year is more than a lot of head coaches. Its going to take a really good job opening up for him to leave to be a HC in the future. Heck, he may just want to stay here until Cig retires and then take over.

Whoot! With the recruiting looking good, it will be fun watching Coach Haines and his players when we have even more depth. Losing some guys that have been with him several years will be big. But over time we may be even stronger.

Stick with the process until results dictate an adaptation or change.  At $3m+ it'll take a big, big job to make him move.  As far as I'm concerned giving him $4m was fine.              Who was the very good DC that stayed with Beamer forever?  It does happen.                    Heineken and VO in house anticipating 1/1/2k26.  HOOSIERS!

This is really good news. Clemson has never been the same since Venerables left. The same could happen here. I also want him badly to be Cig’s replacement whenever he decides to retire which I hope is about 8 years out. The problem of course is in that case Haines biggest issue is replacing Haines.

I imagine between the defensive coaches, Kuntz, Adam's, Williams and Ojong, you'll instill the same strategies so that someone will be able to run that room.
