Maryland game sneaky good...trappy?

1.  They might be 7-0 when we play them on November 1st.

2.  Last year's game was only a 7 point game going in to the 4th quarter, in Bloomington.

3.  We play PSU the following week.

I know the Oregon game is the only one that matters, right now.  But once that game is over, win or lose, we'll be staring down 2 games at home, that we really should win comfortably.  And then we play at Maryland... even if they're 7-0, that game scares me a little bit.  Whether we're 7-1 or 8-0, that's going to be a huge game.

Definitely trappy.  We'll get a good read on them the next two weeks when they play UW and Nebraska.

They got a favorable schedule draw this year:

August 30: Florida Atlantic (at SECU Stadium) — W 39-7
September 5: Northern Illinois (at SECU Stadium) — W 20-9
September 13: Towson (at SECU Stadium) — W 44-17
September 20: at Wisconsin (at Camp Randall Stadium) — W 27-10
October 4: Washington (at SECU Stadium)
October 11: Nebraska (at SECU Stadium)
October 18: at UCLA (at Rose Bowl Stadium)
November 1: Indiana (at SECU Stadium)
November 8: at Rutgers (at SHI Stadium)
November 15: at Illinois (at Memorial Stadium)
November 22: Michigan (at SECU Stadium)
November 29: at Michigan State (at Ford Field)

Maryland always starts strong and then tails off. We shall see.

I like their coach. I think he's not bad. He said he handled nil wrong last couple years creating dissention. Could be, they're playing well so far. I won't mind if hey continue, except against us. Maryland is further from our recruiting grounds, let them beat up on Midwest teams

I’m excited for the Maryland game. We had fun there in ‘23…..at least until the game happened.

and it’s our Halloween game this year. Junior and I have Mario & Luigi costumes.  And a Maryland turtle plushy to jump on. And we may or may not be toting the turtle around with its head stuck in a 6-pack ring.

Doubt it.  If we had any other coach I would say yes, but not with Cig at the helm.

Also, their game results don't inspire much at this point.  They're also playing a true Freshman at QB who hasn't exactly put up eye-popping numbers against not great opponents.

I smell a INT hat trick for our DBs that game.

@tammany That is a pretty easy draw.  Easier than IU's ended up being last year, I'd say.  Just guessing at this point, but they seem to be similarly "as good" as Iowa.  And if they are 7-0 when we play them, I gotta think their crowd will be about as hyped as a Maryland crowd could be for a team like IU coming to town.  Sneaky difficult task ahead, that no one is really talking much about.

@iunorth Interesting they are six pt dogs vs UW.  UW on the road isn’t too strong and while Wisky was down that was a good road performance by MD. I may bet this game.

@tammany UW looked like they belonged on the field with OSU for long stretches in that game.  OSU's defense is NASTY though.  If Maryland does get by Washington, they're legit.

I too fear this game.  They are a decent team. They play hard and again on the road.
dogs to Washington doesn't surprise me. The huskies are a good team. Better than last year.

All of IU fandom should be rooting for Maryland week in and week out so we can beat them with a ranking next to their name.

They'll lose their next two games, starting with Washington.  Better than expected, but not 'good'.  Their QB will be one to watch though.  Much like Aidan Chiles.

Just about any of our remaining opponents could beat us. Our team is really good but not two-deep-stars at every position. Which is about what it takes to be sure of rolling through a Big Ten schedule.

Really cool to have beaten Illinois and Iowa. Great start!

I have to believe Maryland will be ready if they stay healthy. If we're still healthy, we'll no doubt be playing well, and be solid favorites.

Sorry about adding a new Maryland thread. I clearly did not peruse the board.  I did add an article from CBS.  I agree, this could be a sneaky tough game.  Will be interesting to see how they play this weekend against Washington.
